I would think the change would be Manchester Oxford Rd but it could be Piccadilly

All the Oxford Road trains call at Piccadilly so you can change at either. That's providing your connecting trains both stop at Oxford Road?

Did when I went to Nottingham. Then it stopped at Sheffield.

If there is a group of you then ask at Wigan about buying a 4way ticket. It costs about £39 for 4 return tickets (thats to Nottingham so maybe less to Sheff)

£3.30 each way as Advance Singles with a railcard - will get an early train between Wigan and Manchester on Saturday morning, have a quick mooch at what's on offer as part of 'Record Store Day' in Piccadilly Records, pick up a couple of cold cans from Sainsbury's in Piccadilly station for the journey over the hills, and just jump on the first train back to Wigan on return in the evening. Should be fun.

Yeah, that got a bit messed up - I booked the tickets when the kick off was announced as 3pm. The announcement that it was a 4pm start must've been made literally whilst I was going through the booking process. Hoping it'll still work out alright if the game finishes on time, though I'm prepared for a bit of a jog back to the station if needs be!

Try asking on the train or going on the net and looking for deals from stockport

They certainly do the deal from Sheff to Manchester, used it a few weeks ago.

warning for fans going sheffield. if you can avoid east midlands train 43 mins past the hour only 2 carriage train (went to norwich 3 weeks ago) was packed with 15 standing in each carriage each way, man picc to sheffield. the 20 mins past the hour is 3 carriage train train first transpennie
