I'm not sure that taking ownership of the stadium would benefit us that much. It would be a nice thing to be able to brag about, but as things are Latics are paying for nearly everything, and our rent is very reasonable. Of course, if Latics were to get relegated, the first part of that arrangement might need to be renegotiated. I couldn't see them carrying all the costs without their annual £30 million, or whatever it is, from the Premiership.

Which im sure IL has hinted at before, basically saying it helps us if Latics are doing well.

Whelan gave the stadium to Latics last year I believe. There was an article in the newspaper or from the EA about it.

Nice to see were looking all over for potential players. As for him signing a new deal with Feath, I'm sure they wouldn't stand in his way of going to SL. Plus a little bit of cash may grease the wheel's if needs be.

Looks as though Deacon won't be hanging up his boot's just yet.

Meanwhile, win or lose on Saturday, Deacon is poised to extend his playing career.

He is coming to the end of the first year of a three-year contract as assistant coach and will sit down next week to put the finishing touches to a new playing deal.

"It's in the pipeline at the moment," he said. "I don't feel ready to hang up the boots, I'm hoping for another year.

"I've had a brief chat with Madge and he seems to want me to play again so we'll sit down after the final and try and sort that out."
