OK Josh.. So have you read the letter in the League Express?? no because if you had you certainly wouldn't be on here trying to defend your club. The letter is an embarrasment to your club and just shows the small time club mentallity you have at the Wire. I certainly would have been supprised if it had come from Saints/leeds/ bradford etc.. For some reason I wasnt supprised that the massive warrington club had resorted to such acts and especially from their CEO... maybe he should look more into security at the HJ to protect away supporters rather than spend his time writting a letter to the league express to celebrate the fact that the HJ is 7 years old!!

That old chestnut again! Can I remind you that no wigan fan was attacked inside the ground. They were alledgedly attacked outside the ground a considerable distance from the stadium, and therefore the club cannot be held responsible! Much the same way as the wigan club cannot be held responsible for the wigan fan who threw a bottle at a car carrying wire fans. A bottle which injured a 6 year old girl.

You really are flogging a dead horse here, mate.
One trophy in Heaven knows how many years is not going to impress anyone, least of all Wigan fans, most of whom have seen many, many more than that in their lifetime.
Why bother? Just go back to your board and look forward to what may be a more successful spell for your club than the one you've just lived through.

Thats a bad error to just assume we were only succesful between those years. We were a hugely succesful club well before then. We won the first ever Cup Final at Wembley and in my opinion our post war side was far more dominant than the 88-95 era. Ok it may be long in the past but Warrington can't even look beyond 2009. thats the point being made here.
And you still haven't told us about your non Wigan match memories from the last 10 years.

| To many to mention. Win lose or draw I have been there supporting my team no matter which country they were playing in. I have met many great people and players, really enjoyed my time watching wires over the last 30+ years.
By the way by saying we can't look beyond 2009 are you claiming that we have only ever won a trophy last year? It certainly seems that way!

| Can I just attempt to try to put some perspective on this.
Like it or not, in recent years, Warrington have been a big rival to Wigan......especially at the HJ. The fact that your boys hadn't won a competitive game there for 7 years proves that beyond a shadow of doubt.
Equally, like it or not, in recent years the Warrington Saints games have has massive media attention due to this 'hoodoo' people talk about. Its also down to the fact that, home or away, we have repeatedly come within a single score of beating Saints again, within the last few years.
Warrington, given the money we have spent, have not had the success our outgoings deserves.....everyone in the league knows that but...... the one thing that all Warrington fans want from the most successful two clubs in RL history (as well as the media) is recognition. That is all.
A challenge cup win, in the grand scheme of things, doesn't even scratch the surface of how successful Saints have been in SL and Wigan in the 80's and 90'd before that. But, at the end of the day, not many other clubs in SL have won that particular peice of silverware other than the customary 'big 4' (Wigan, Saints, Bradford & Leeds). Hull were the most recent outside of the big 4 but now Warrington join that club.
What exactly is the defenition of a small club? Is the size of the club decided on the size of your trophy cabinet in the last 5 years? If so, Saints are a big club as are Leeds but Wigan, unfortunatley, are now smaller than Warrington. If its 10 years Wigan go up the ladder, 20 means they are top etc etc. If the size of your club is measured on percentage of salary cap spent every year then, I'm sorry guys, we are just as big as you two. If it goes off season tickets sold again, we are up there.......away fans.....again, up in maybe the top 4, average attendances at home.......again up there with the biggest.
All I'm saying is although we do not historically have the rivalry between you two but in recent history we have. We are not a small club on so many levels and we are improving and hoping to achieve just a snippet of what both Wigan and Saints have achieved.
Good enough?

Wake up, chum.
2009 is history as well. That's right - your cup win has been and gone. It was another season. It's in the past.
If I were you I'd expend more energy wondering why Wire, who talked themselves up to some tune during the close season, have already failed in two of their first three major tests of 2010.

I don't think it does. I would totally agree with that if we had been consistently meeting in play offs when it matters. But we haven't been. We met twice in the cup semis in the last decade and it was 1-1, hardly major.

Lets leave that shall we. Stupid arguement to have at this stage of the season given Warrington are currently sat in second having only lost to Saints and Wigan, with both the second best defence and second best attacking record in the league after 7 rounds. Short memory you have considering you were turned over by a poor Bradford side only a few weeks back.....something that Warrington can't hold their hands up for!

Well in my opinion you were making an issue out of it by mentioning it again. Whilst the matter was reported to Gatcliffe,it happened outside the ground so it's not really within his remit to follow it up is it? It's a police matter,as whatever went on happened outside the ground. I really don't see why you say gatcliffe would be better making conditions safer for away fans inside the ground when none have been attacked inside the ground. If no one gets attacked, surely the ground is safe enough?

No, my definition of a big club (and the same definition of most of the people I know) is based on the total amount achieved since it's formation combined with the support base of the club.
Liverpool in football would still be a big club even taking away any honours other than domestic League championships, which they haven't won since 89-90, coupled with their excellent support, 18 wins makes them a big club even if they go another 20 years without winning one.
In the trophies that mattered most to Rugby League fans, Warrington's 3 championships and 6 challenge cups isn't quite there yet.

Admittedly, at the business end of the season we haven't been there in playoffs. Our 'other' games haven't reached the same intensity as the Wigan and Saints games during the normal weekly rounds. So yes, during the weekly round in the last 7 years we have taken point from Wigan every season and with Saints, in recent years there have been some proper nail biters!!
Like I said before, I'm not saying Warrington V Wigan or Warrington V Saints will ever become the 'derby game' but everyone has to recognise, those games have been very entertaining and unexpected!
