I'm not so sure they are. Listening to an interview with Yeo then it paints a different story. Noticeable too that the WC participants all volunteered to come back in early to train for this when they could've had extra time off. He seems really up for it, its something they've never won as a club and whilst Edwards and Martin aren't playing they've gone very strong.

Their 1-8 all played in the WC and then you've got Leota, Fisher- Harris and Yeo in the pack

I’m talking the general feel you get from the media and in particular the NRL and it’s website. I’ve rarely seen a mention of the game as a stand alone point and most references seem to involve it being part of pre season.

Tough to get a feel for how Penrith see it. It would’ve been rank bad had they not come back a week early in to training, so thank the Lord they didn’t stay away. Any idea on a crowd figure? I follow Penrith on social media channels and haven’t seen anything mentioned.

I’ve not seen any of Fox Spirts build up but banging up old re-runs of World Club challenges doesn’t take much effort to be fair, although granted it’s better than nowt. What I do know is that they can make NZ Warriors vs Gold Coast on a Thursday night seem as big as a Champions League Final when you watch the promos beforehand and they have 24 hours to fill each day, so plenty of time to build it up and do promo pieces on it. Maybe they have, I don’t know but the general feel I’ve got is that it’s being seen as a reasonably big trial game.

Head says, Saints to win for super League (I am sure it wont be mentioned much if they did win).
Heart says, I hope Penrith stuff them.

Brilliant first half for Saints! Welsby the difference.

Penrith attack looks so clunky with Crichton at Full back, he’s a centre wing all day. Bulldogs have signed him to a big deal to be fullback for next year but I’m not sure it’s wise.

Saints outstanding. Penrith playing as they and the NRL have billed the game.

That first Saints try was so important. They got rolled up field a couple of times before that and were back peddling and then bang. Brilliant on the counter attack that and they haven’t looked back since.

Fantastic 80 mins. Saints could regret those drop goal misses. They deserve to win it.

Saints should have won that in regulation, Penrith really didn’t threaten too much that last 20 like I expected and Saints should have put it to bed with the amount of good positions they got in to take the drop goal.

Fair play to Saints, they fully deserved that and showed character to pick themselves up after being so close to winning in regulation. Gonna be really tough to beat again this year.

We know one won’t be but happy for guys like Stu M, The Giraffe and FTV. I had a feeling they’d do it because it just feels like it’s a game they’ve built towards for 5 years, whereas the other team clearly see their own league as the club pinnacle and that’s really not to take anything away from Saints. They were too good for them.

When it’s England v Australia I will support the English team every time, plus it makes an absolute prat out of Phil Gould who was once again ridiculously disrespectful of the Super League comp this week.

Really pleased for them, they deserved the win and it was a magnificent performance.

Having said that I hope the lose every other game they play this season.

Crichton, To’o and Luai not getting their own way for once was a pleasure to watch.
