Good to see the attitude of the club regarding bringing on the youngsters and not going for mercenary signings. This was always the way IL said we would operate and its good that he is sticking to it. Not really bothered that we have no signings for next year as its better to stick with what we have than sign anyone just for the sake of doing so.

I definitely agree with IL about the attitude of some people to our players. I have been defending various players that have been the target of undue criticism myself. I think that sadly some people just decide that they don't like a player and after that nothing will stop them sniping at said player. It isn't just on forums either, there are a group of about 5 that sit behind me in the Boston stand who turn up to every game and just slag off the players, and then there are the sort of idiots that jeered at Pryce when he got injured. If that's their idea of support we're better off without them.

Regarding the coaching situation I do have a concern over when the cut off point comes for the decision to be made. IMO if we don't have someone sorted to replace Noble by now (or at the latest after our last game this season) then I'd rather see us give him the deal for next year now so that we do have a definite coach in place for next year. I can only think that we are currently negotiating with a candidate and that either said candidate or Noble will be in charge next year dependant on those negotiations.

Didn't go but a few concerns I have:

If Feka Paleaasina is one of the players taking up a significant chunk of the cap it's IL's fault? Wasn't he the one who extended his contract?

Also didn't he slate the players last year publically in the press - but we're getting slated (on an independant site) for criticisms of Richie Mathers and Karl Pryce?

We don't have the space for overseas recruits but yet IL comes out in the press and says I have been to Australia looking at this player and that player?

Contradiction at it's best or have I misunderstood it all?

It's nothing new, I don't think Wigan have made profit in decades, if at all.
Look at the figures below, scares the hell out of me to think what pre2007 was like with ML & DW at the helm.

2008 - £320,000 Loss
2009 - £150,000 Projected Loss, based on worst case scenario (no wembley appearance)

i think only leeds and possibly hull are the only profitable clubs. Despite 2 final appearences saints lost about £350k last year. Knowsley road is killing us financially.

1 - The coaching situation for next season is still not resolved.

2 - Despite the Billy Big Bollox talking to the press about what positions we want to sign for next season, nobody has signed and it looks like they won't.

Personally I though IL was excellent, good of you to highlight the question as the cause of him losing his rag, personally I thought it was the sheer bloody minded, failure to understand the answer that caused his agitation.

For those who weren't there, IL spent considerable time looking at players in Aus (Karmichael Hunt being one IIRC) but all considered, physical condition, off-field problems, dressing room issues, exchange rates etc none of them were considered viable options. Instead, IL chose to reinvest the money in the youth we already have, a policy I'm personally very pleased we're finally adopting.

First time I've been to a forum and it staggered me how many people sit there and actually listen to nothing that's said and ask stupid questions regardless.

However what I think Cruncher is trying to say is that the biggest whingers are those that did not go.

As for having a moan about players i think IFL needs to get a grip and so do the players too if it affects them. I did not agree with the Amos Roberts thread but everyone is entitled to there opinion, if they have such thin skin they are in the wrong game.

I was not there but from what i have read it all sounds like one big excuse cultutre going on at the JJB.

We have sounded out a new coach, and we have attempted to sign players from the NRL, simple thing is we picked a coach who is mates with Noble and would not do over his mate, and a Prop who was always going to struggle to get a visa, sweep it under the carpet all you want but those were the calls made by IFL.

I do think he is the man to take us forward but i think he is making an error arranging these nights when he has no news to deliver.

As for this keyboard warrior crap I think your trying to imply, not at all it's simply a case of being disappointed with some of the answers.

That's an interesting one.I remember a few discussions at the time where anyone who discussed this was told it was no big deal getting a sponsor late on in the day. Clearly it is an issue. Hopefully (from a RL point of view) Mecca will renew their contract. They seem very proactive, and have extended their sponsorship throughout RL, which is very good for the game.

The nonsense about people not liking the logo, is just that.

IFL cannot go on about £ and then say Hunt was a realistic target when he never was!

We may as well said we were looking at Slater, Thurston, Meninga and Lewis, its as realistic as targeting Hunt.
