| Quote ="jonh"Taylor certainly fits the Wane bill, and ticks all the boxes tall young mean defence strong carry. Has a frame we can build on and is still only 21.
The thought of Mossop and Taylor being our Props for years to come is a frightening prospect.
I would be very disappointed if we were not making a strong bid for him.
As I said earlier though if we do bring him in we must still bring in an experienced NRL Prop.'"
I disagree with the last point and can't see it happening either. This week we had 5 props playing, Fielden unpicked and Prescott injured, not to mention Crosby and Spencer. IMO we'll lose Lima and Fielden, replace one of these externally (hopefully Taylor) and the other one will be covered by our youngsters getting more game time.
Mossop
Prescott
Taylor
Dudson
Lauaki
Flower
Crosby
Spencer
Is enough IMO.

| With Lima and Fielden off him and another prop could well be a possibility. I can't see any way back for Fielden after him being left out on Friday.
To sign one experienced head to go alongside Mossop, Dudson and hopefully Taylor would just be immense. We shouldn't rule out Prescott as well. He's had a really tough year but when fit and on form he's excellent and a real handful. I thought Dudson was excellent on Friday as well and his potential is huge.
After those we'd still have Lauaki who's been solid for us, Flower who I'd use more in the back row(excellent on Friday as well) and Crosby who I really like but he needs to bulk up.
Brilliant options.

I disagree
That is a relatively young crop of players and we still need a battle hardened experienced old head.

There is no leader in that crop, an experienced Prop aged 28 plus who would provide natural leadership would be the icing on the cake and badly needed given the experience and leadership we are losing across the park.
Many of the players listed above can also be very effective in the second row.
A player in the mould of Pongia would be ideal. Asotasi would be the perfect signing even though he is arguably past his best form.

We need an older experienced prop amongst them with quality too. Dudson, Crosby and Spencer all really young yet as is Taylor

I don't know if the player swap stories are true but have been reliably informed that Tuson is 100% not leaving having recently signed a 1 year extension on his contract

| If I were Tuson I'd leave tbh. He's a good player if a little small but he's gutsy and would go well as a starting player for someone. His game suits being an 80 minute player which he proved away at Saints when he was excellent.
His problem is he's behind so many players at Wigan and there's a couple with the potential to also push past him so he's going to struggle to get games.
If it's not him I'm more then happy to keep him in the squad though.

| Not sure Wane would want to upset his daughter too much...
I see Tuey staying.
I know absolutely nothing about this transfer but I'd predict Spenny to be the one most likely to be involve in a swap.
What about our player heading over on a season long loan? That'd do Spenny & Crosby the world of good if they went for a guaranteed full year.

He's not behind that many, I don't think, at least in Wane's opinion (which is the one that counts). He's played in every game he's been available, this season, IIRC, and seen as probably level with Faz and ahead of Hughes, LLoyd and the rest.

| Agreed, Tuson has developed in to a regular bench member of the 17. He is almost an automatic choice for the back row spot on the bench, ahead of farrell.

| I think we'll see Rhodri Lloyd break through into the first team next season, possibly ahead of Chris Tuson which when coupled with Faz/Hughes who are ahead of him in the pecking order then I really wouldn't begrudge him moving to Hull KR.

I can't see how he'd be ahead of Farrell. I mean if he was better than Farrell he'd get more game time, but he doesn't. When both are on the bench it's Farrell who plays more minutes.

No disrespect to them, but we'd need a somebody a bit more developed. Possibly from elsewhere as well as rather than instead off, but if it were to make any significant difference to the fee, I can't see much of a point.

| Would be really happy if we do get Taylor. Regarding the player swap I can't really think of anyone we'd be willing to let go permanent really apart from poss Crosby or Spener due to having so many young props. However we have plenty of players who would really benefit from a full year on loan, the likes of ... Crosby, Spencer, Murphy, Russell, King, Burke or even Lloyd.

Don't think any of those would especially benefit us, certainly not to the point of it sweetening a deal. A stop-gap like Charnley in 2010 or Russell going to Hull this year is okay, but that is a bit too farm team.

I wouldn't say Hughes was above him. Hughes wasn't getting in the side when Tuse was fit for a start and that's before the possibility of him being turned into a centre.

| Tuson is Wigans 4th choice second row after Hock, Hansen and Farrell but he's definitely ahead of Hughes and Lloyd.
I believe those last 2 could push up ahead of Tuson and Farrell within a year or two though because they have a huge advantage size wise. They both need to fill out but will be massive when they do.

| When you are getting a player of Scott Taylors talent and quality I think whoever you release in the other direction would be acceptable (not including the likes of Tomkins).
Wouldn't be surprised if we take an outside back as that is an area we are weak in. I believe Craig Hall is going to have our No.1 jersey next season but it may be that we get Russell as a swap deal giving us the option to use Travis Burns at hooker, Hall at 6 and Russell at full back. I'd be happy with that swap as I feel Beaumont, Griffin, James Green, Tuimavave, Paea, Lovegrove, Mika, Netherton, Paterson, Peterson and possibly Aaron Ollett can all fit in to the pack and replace Taylor while we have no natural replacement at full back.

Although I would be disappointed to see Russell go, he does seem the most obvious player that we would send.
I hope it would be on loan for a year, but if he is being used as part of the deal sadly from a Wigan point of view I would expect it to be a permanent deal.
Realistically Russell will not got a shot at the 1 shirt till Sam leaves (probably in 2 years), maybe a 2 year deal to Hull KR and a word in his ear that if he performs we will bring him back, if he wants, but then I guess it depends on how he would potentially go and grow as a player at Hull KR and his afection/loyalty to the club.
