I quite liked that Grand Final thread.

This time last year the thread would have been about how many points they'll beat us by. This year it's about how we cheat, we own the RFL and everyone hates them.

Just cheers me up and makes me think "Wigan must be winning games again".

I get a lot of abuse on there (some of them call it banter) but I'm always polite and 90% of the time factual, which they really don't like.
One of them the other week accused me of posting about young players when Anderson was coach, look at when I joined Anderson had left two years previously.
They won't come on here and debate their points. Fair play to TYG and a couple more who do.

There are some good posters on there Reacher, Tez the Saint, Tallight Tiger etc.

I've seen it Brian. It's an embarrassment to a club like St Helens. They really should be ashamed of themselves. My 'favourite' recently was when you legitimately, and correctly as it turned out, suggested that Catalan might feature in the playoffs. The abuse you received for daring to mention a team other than Saints and "derailing the thread" on a thread titled "Playoffs" or something similar was cringe worthy.

There are some good posters on there, too, as you mention above. Credit to them for not letting the toxicity on there infect them. I'd give them genuine respect if, like YG and FTV, they posted on an open forum though.

What you have got to understand is that most of them know nothing about rugby league, add to that the inbreeding and hence you have a big problem having a reasoned discussion.

If I was a Saints fan I'd be laughing my head off at all the Wigan fans who go on there and come back with "Redvee said this", "wonder what Redvee will be like tonight", "have you seen the post on Redvee". They seem to be occupying a large space in the psyche of some of the people on here.

Really honest question, that's open to anyone - why do people care, or keep going back & looking at a forum that triggers them so much? I honestly couldn't care if "Redvee is in a meltdown", or if someone thinks only three of our team would get into theirs.

You've established they are lacking in reason, so why engage with them - kinda makes you just as bad as they are.

Me personally i love reading through it. Its like the village of the damned over there. Its like going back to an old flame for a one night stand. You know you shouldn't but you can't help yourself. To be honest i am staggered they can type so much garbage with all those fingers. The next time we play them away and we are allowed back in i will go in a pair of sandals to show them what its like to have 5 toes on a foot.

Both have some really good posters, people who know a lot about rugby and some who know little, some idiots, some trolls, some wind up merchants, and lot of bias.

I’ve seen Saints fans called cretins, inbreds and retards on here. You for example making comments about fingers and toes. Then I see people complain about the vile abuse dished out on redvee. I see redvee references on here all the time then I see Saints fans being accused of being obsessed with Wigan. Similarly on redvee you see references to “scum” and inbreds when discussing Wigan.

If truth be told; both boards are as bad as each other at times and whether folk like to admit it or not, the two groups of fans on these forums are more similar than they think.

I’m with you on that one though I think this site is far better than the other Wigan one which is why I only go on here.

It’s a shame your more reasoned posters can’t come back to RLFANS and leave the idiots to fester.

I think there’s a world of difference tbh between here and RedVee. Maybe not so much between the independent Wigan board and RedVee but you wouldn’t get away with some of the abuse that just seems common place over there if you did it on here. There isn’t as much animosity on here towards St Helens as a club for starters. I generally find people respect Saints as a team and club and whilst there is always banter and always a healthy dislike of all things St Helens, you don’t get anywhere near as much of the ‘scum, thugs, inbreds’ talk towards St Helens as you do the other way round. I’ve seen a couple of comments on there recently that I’ve never seen the like of on here or if I have they’ve been very quickly removed by mods.

I’ll call things as I see them, I’m not afraid to praise other clubs when I see fit and if I think a team is better than ours I’ll say it, so I don’t think I’m looking at things through overly biased eyes. The two boards are very different IMO.

I'm all for rivalries & truly think that they are the biggest strengths of the game. People know Wigan Vs Saints etc and will watch.

That being said, it's bad that fans (on both sides) can't see see both clubs are in the same boat. Look at the young player of the year award as a perfect example. I've seen loads of derision from smaller clubs that all 6 nominees are from the four big clubs. Instead of saying well that's the benefit of investing in youth, fans on both sides have ripped in and said certain players aren't as good as their equivalent teams counterparts.

Some similarities in a couple of areas, but the level of nastiness is on another level.
It's a very myopic in its view point (as NK says much like our other board), and I muc prefer to, what IMO is a much healthier stance, invite either opinions/views from other clubs.
Now there is a fine line, but the contributions we get from a few wire fans, Leeds fans, and the odd contribution from hull/hudds/wakey and occasionally Leythers is most welcome, I wish there was more in fact

Things have gone further than that over there. As I say a couple of comments I’ve read on there within the last couple of months have been pretty shocking.

I don’t see many of those comments on here either tbh (apart from me calling Terry O’Connor retarded but that’s factual) but I’m not saying they don’t happen or that there isn’t an issue with that. I’ve seen yourself get comments thrown at you without any great reasoning behind it and that’s not right. I’d love for more opposition fans to come on here and over reasonable opinion. I’ve never seen a level of abuse aimed at you or any other opposition fan on here that I have on there. I’m not blaming St Helens as a club for that and as I say I have a healthy respect for St Helens. It’s an independent board and therefore it seems to lose an ability to accept outsiders. We have our own version but I think they’re too busy criticising Wigan themselves to bother with opposition fans.

There’s definitely not a very warm welcome given to “outsiders” on redvee. But as I’ve mentioned previously it’s probably because we have “suffered” in the past with a couple of whoppers and now everyone is prematurely tarred with the same brush.

As I say, I can’t deny there’s some moronic venom spouted on that site. But it’s naive for anyone to think this place is much different.

I haven't seen any posts accusing someone of being a rather vile human being on here, but rogues is regularly given that 'treatment' on redvee.

Debate with other fans is great (and is why although we are the bigger rivals, I would rather discuss rugby with a Saints fan than a Wire fan because you usually can whereas a Wire fan just brings out the "wigan scum" line) but it doesn't seem to happen over there.

I think Red Vee and the other Wigan site are somewhat similar, and because of it is dying a death.

Saying that, some of the Wigan fans Facebook posts are horrible, I'm sure english is not their first language!!

You know what tho, if you look at it from their POV then I kinda get why they are so prickly.

I'm not condoning what they say, but no Wigan fan is going to the trouble of registering for that platform to use it in the way it was intended I.e a gathering of Saints fans to talk about the Sainrs. They aren't looking for the opinion of Wigan fans on how the ref was last night, or don't need someone going on there to say Singleton is better than X, Y or Z etc. That's not what they signed up for, or want - that's what this place is for.

I'd say, just leave them to it.

To answer your first question, probably not no. But two or three on here constantly churn out abuse towards redvee posters and Saints fans in general and nothing is said.

As for the question about it being tolerated on here, that would depend who is saying it. If it was a Wigan fan it would be ignored, if it was me I’d be banned for life.
