| Definately Widnes. Would also be good to see Halifax back. Had some cracking tussles with them back in the 80's. They used to be really well supported and brought some fantastic followings to Central Park.
Is the plan to expand the number of teams in SL or replace one for one?

| Barrow for me. I think that expansion into Cumbria would be of great benefit to all involved.

| Widnes should be in over many of the current clubs. Halfifax should be in over Wakey.

| If it is only 1, Barrow in for me. The only reason is location. We keep talking about expansion out of the heartlands, but Cumbria is a heartland that doesn't have a team. I'd also like to see Widnes in.
So Barrow and Widnes in, any 2 yorkshire teams out.

Yea but they can accomodate more and have more facilities so not really a good argument there. Of those you mentioned 5 are 'planning' new grounds/improvements. What are Barrow planning?

| Have a real shake up and put all three in, see how they all get on. Crusaders, Cas and Wakey out. Give them all 3 years in a lower league to sort themselves out.

| I think that after the next license period, so in 4 years time, or maybe after one more, so in 7 years, we should be at a stage where we have enough clubs in a super league-worthy position to revert back to a promotion/relegation system. Would be good if we have the current 14 plus teams like Widnes, Leigh, Barrow, Halifax, Featherstone, Toulouse all in positions where they would be able to make the step up. I have also always been in favour of expanding to 16 teams although I know a lot of people aren't, and I think this would be a good time to do it.
For me, this time around though, if either Cas or Wakey don't look like they have a stadium in progress soon, they should be out as they have had enough time to sort something out and also I dont think Crusaders have ever deserved their place and with their current financial situation I think it would be better giving someone else a go. The RFL really need to get out of this habit of promoting teams too quickly when there are more deserving teams worthy of top-flight rugby league.

| Just what SL needs - another house team.
If we ever want to be serious about competing at international level we should be reducing the number of teams - as low as 10 I'd say - so we actually get more quality, high intensity matches.

but have less full time teams and players to pick from so in fact that would decrease the quality in playing pool for the national team to pick from its so important for teams like wakey, cas and other championship clubs without new stadia to get new stadiums so they can develop as clubs like hull, wire have an other deeveloping teams like leigh are trying to do thats the way to go. a 16 team super league all strong clubs on and off field with promotion and relegation

Choosing one, I'm going to say Barrow.

| I cant see barrow being let in as there ground isnt better than those who they will kick out (cas/wakey) i would say widnes as they have been let down by the RFL a number of times and will bring decent support to most away teams something that barrow would not be able to do.

I suggested on the VT to cut the number of teams in super league which would increase the quality in the top league and the second league by a long way.
Wigan
Leeds
Saints
Bradford
Wire
Hull FC
Hull KR
Widnes
Catalans
Hudds
Cas
Wakey
Crusaders
Quins
Salford
Leigh
Barrow
Fax
Featherstone
Toulouse
Much higher quality in the top league, more close games. Second tier would be a lot stronger than it is now and would get alot more money from the amount of sky games they would get.
This would make the franchising system more progressive.
Whenever the 3 years came around for the applications for a franchise there would actually be huge competition for who would get in. Clubs would have to find every trick in the book. Right now it is pretty obvious that Widnes will get in.

You're confusing quantity and quality - pretty much what RL has done in this country for about 40 years. Less, better matched and coached teams would lead to higher quality, more intense matches, thus improving player development, making the game a better "product" and reaping the benefits of a more successful international team. From an international point of view it's better to pick from a smaller group of high quality players than picking from a load of crud which happens at the moment.

I agree this second tier looks stronger and would offer better opportunities for development.
I voted for Widnes simply because they're ready and unless the RFL are using a similar logic to FIFA they are a shoe in as they tick the most boxes.

I'd trust Sepp Blatter more to get it right than I would Nigel Wood.
