Holds over 3000 more, but as its an RFL event and not a Wigan one, its the increase in hospitality facilities that will appeal to the RFL. Why should we lose alot of fans by taking it a few miles out of town? Hardly difficult to get there.

Great if you drive but what about us that don't and/or would like a day session on the ale? It's a pain in the backside to get to on the train. You'd have to go out the way to Bolton, then to Horwich and vice versa on the way back. All of which isn't ideal on a Sunday Evening when its dark dull and cold.

| There is no logic to taking it to Horwich. It should be in Wigan, We have a stadium perfect for this occasion.
I've been to previous WCC events at CP, OT, Anfield, Reebok, and the home team looses out by not being at their true home! As much as I dislike DW we should play it there, plenty prawn seats available. sometimes it shouldn't all be about finances, sometimes pride and tradition should come out tops.

I dont think you understand that this is an RFL event and not a Wigan one. I know I would prefer it in Wigan, but there is plenty of logic in taking it to Horwich as far as the RFL are concerned.

Its not that bad getting the train, its only 38 mins. If we lose fans because of those reasons, then its very poor. Plus I highly doubt the RFL have fans all day drinking sessions in mind when deciding where to play the WCC

Did the RFL sanction the first WCC?
Have the RFL organised anything of success recently?
Time to take back control.

Fully agree.
The RFL couldn't organise an orgy in a brothel.
Wigan Marketing team pi$$es all over the RFL's.

| We'd sell out the DW, but we'd only get about 15,000 on at the Reebok. Remember this is a Sunday night. It will be freezing cold, pouring down and will be on tv.

Even so, the last thing the club want is a PR nightmare out of it.

| Latics are at home the weekend of the 27th. If Sky wanted the fixture it can't be played on the 27th. They play Manchester United. United could be playing in the Europe the week before, even the UEFA Cup on the Thursday night, so the game would defo be moved to the Sunday.

I thought it was purely ML's idea and bugger all to do with the RFL. It worked rather well thoughicon_smile.gif
I thought it was an invitational match between the English champs and the Aus champs, now I may be old fashioned at 42 but it packed the place as we all know and is still talked about 20 odd years later. Not even Brisbane WCC is talked about the same.
As nothing has been said yet, the RFL are once again pontificating, and I fear they are looking for the best catch from the Bearing Sea before deciding on a venue. How many of the 36,895 were in corporate seats? Bugger all, that's how many, let's get the game back to the real fans.

When was the last time Latics took more than 5k (never mind 15k) anywhere, regardless of distance?
Seriously?

We'd sell it out no problem.

Cardiff probably.
I was sat in front of a family of daytrippers who on several occasions 'tutted' at my reaction to what was happening so I joined them in having a Jam sandwich and mug of tea whilst commenting on how nice a day it was for February.

| It must be at the DW unless we are going to promote it somewhere else to get an extra 8-10k on the gate.
If Leeds can get 37k for their game in 05 then we are more than capable of getting a full house at the DW or in Bolton or even getting 30k+ in Manchester or Liverpool.
I would love to have it at home though, it would be great to start adding some history to the place, it woould be awesome for people to be talking about times gone by at this home.

| I liked the bit about a star studded Wigan side in 1994.
Yeah, missing Skerret, Platt, Bell and more.
Our two starting props were Cowie and McGinty up against Glen Lazerous and Andrew Gee.
It was a great win though!

if you are on public transport its IMPOSSIBLE to get there.
that rules out half the south stand fans who are kids who cant drive.
jjb (i still refuse to pay homage to that meglomaniac)...full house...........plus hospitality
reebok.......15k .......with @ 7k neutrals and freeloaders.
