| Agree with regards to Riddell, Richards, Farrell and Tuson, our 4 best players by a mile today.
How Wire never got caught offside at the scrum is unbelievable, i can't remember them actually being onside at a single one.

| Was a poor game. I have no doubt I will be lambasted by some on here, who for whatever reason can see no wrong in the current setup, however, fortunately I don't care.
Once again we have bottled the big game.
MM I have no doubt will be a great coach in the future. However, in coaching terms, he is a kid.
He has undoubtabley brought a fresh attitude to Wigan, he has new ideas and has clearly learned a lot from Bellamy.
However, I question his ability to deliver that "X factor" when it comes to big games, at least I do at the moment. I have no doubt he will aquire it in time, but at the moment he doesn't have it.
Hopefully Wigan can kick on and win irrespective of this, but I really have seen no "plan B" from this guy yet.

| Lost it in the forwards for me, although i thought Morley had a shocker, but Prescott and Fielden were worse. Prescott for me just isnt good enough, O'Carroll and Coley cant come back soon enough. Hope Mossops injury isnt serious.

| Quote ="Panda Antics"Gutted about tonight's game. I'll probably have to watch the match again to get some more in depth opinions but here are my immediate thoughts:
Discipline was shocking, no excuse for some of the penalties. Gleeson being offside at the scrum is one that stands out as being totally unacceptable. Joel Tomkins needs to play a bit smarter too.
We're not physical enough, but we knew that already. None of our lads were prepared to mix it tonight against a huge Wire pack, and they battered us. We are crying out for a sh*thouse prop or some one who isn't afraid to stand up to the opposition (Hock can't come back soon enough).
Handling was shocking. Obviously conditions were poor for both sides but that's no excuse for the amount of dropped ball we produces tonight. Some stupid errors from the likes of Prescott and Carmont that again, aren't acceptable at this level.
Silverwood was absolutely shocking (yes, Wire fans will highlight this and laugh). Referees are ruining Super League games by being so bloody pedantic and slowing the game to their speed, and then missing bleeding obvious errors (one example being Riddell's "knock-on" when we had the momentum about 65 minutes in, that was clearly ripped). Also Child's failure to spot Mathers' knock on probably cost us the game today (although in all seriousness we didn't deserve to win it).
Finally, big raps to Richards, Tuson, Riddell and Farrell. Really put everything into it, and didn't deserve to be on the losing side (few did to be fair).
I didn't enjoy tonight's game, and there was an air of inevitability about us losing right from the first 20 when we failed to capitalise on such a poor start from Warrington. That said, we have come so far this year, will probably win the League Leader's trophy, and we're going to be right up there next year, because we're only a couple of signings from once again being [ithe[/i side to beat.'"
Discipline was poor, i have thought that about JT a few times this year although have put it down to youth thus far.
To say we were not physical enough and not prepared to mix it is absolute nonesense and an injustice to our players who worked their socks off against a much bigger team. It does highlight that whenever we loose either Fielden or Coley we struggle, especially against the better sides.
I can understand your comment about the handling however most of those i would put down to good defence rather than poor handling. I lost count of the times wire hit the ball or ball carrying arm with force.
I don't think Silverwood was too bad, a couple of wierd ones but you expect that from any ref. Damn site better than Bentham. Mathers didn't knock on however i would argue the ball was kicked out of Farrells hands so should of been a penalty/drop out rather than a knock on.
The difference for me was wire taking their chances in the first half when we didn't, i also felt we didn't get that little bit of luck you need to win a game like that.

Myler was offside I think, will watch it again.
Richards no try was the same as the Meli one.
They played dirty in the first 20 mins.
Why was it wires ball when Mathers messed up from Joel Tomkins kick through?

| I agree with a lot of the replies. We missed Coley a hell of a lot, and I didn't think Fielden stepped us as I'd have liked him too either.
As for the bench, I'd have had Paleaaesina in there today. Yes he has his weaknesses, and he's off at the end of the season, but we might as well use him while we can. Given the conditions, and the size of Wire's front row, why we had our biggest and strongest runner sat in the stand I don't know. [I felt the same for the defeat to Leeds in the CC QF which was played in similar conditions.

| From a neutral point of view (I hate you both almost as equally ) I think you're being a bit harsh.
Quote ="Panda Antics"We're not physical enough, but we knew that already. None of our lads were prepared to mix it tonight against a huge Wire pack, and they battered us. You lot and your obsession with sh*thouse props. You were undone by having a weak and inexperienced bench against a strong Wire pack, it didn't help that your one experienced prop had a mare of a game. Your pack held up well for the most part, but was starting to lose the battle towards the end of the game, that's to be expected given the situation.
Quote Handling was shocking. Obviously conditions were poor for both sides but that's no excuse for the amount of dropped ball we produces tonight. Some stupid errors from the likes of Prescott and Carmont that again, aren't acceptable at this level.'"
Most of the handling errors came from hard defensive hits knocking the ball loose.
Quote Silverwood was absolutely shocking (yes, Wire fans will highlight this and laugh). He missed a number of daft infringements, the worst IMO was the Wire forward pass that bounced along the floor. Which Mathers knock on are you talking about? If it's the one were he dived over the top of the ball, that was not a knock on, the ball never stopped rolling towards the Wire goal line, even though he did (laughably) end up in front of th ball.
Quote Finally, big raps to Richards, Tuson, Riddell and Farrell. Really put everything into it, and didn't deserve to be on the losing side (few did to be fair).'"
I think you can apply that to every player on the pitch.
Quote I didn't enjoy tonight's game, and there was an air of inevitability about us losing right from the first 20 when we failed to capitalise on such a poor start from Warrington. I thought it was a good game, the handling errors were mostly forced and the weather was a big contributory factor, but the intensity and excitement was far better than the game the night before.

Owen Farrell knock on before Riley kicked it. It was play on from Mathers as he didn't knock the ball forwards.

It's not nonsense at all. Just because we tried hard, it doesn't mean we were anywhere near physical enough.
Warrington, although awful in the first twenty, set the tempo of the game by playing dirty, as you say. Why didn't we do similarly? Silverwood made it perfectly clear he wasn't going to penalise dirty play, so we should have mixed it up.
I know it was a difficult task for Fielden and Prescott tonight, but the Warrington front row p*ssed all over the two of them tonight. Men against boys at times I'm afraid.

| Myler wasn't offside, we weren't dirty (look at the Carvell incident, he pulls up, then look at J. Tomkins when Myler scores. Silverwood was dreadful for both sides, there were too many grapple tackles by both teams. Wire won it fair and square, at least it didn't erupt into a brawl like last night.

Agree with that.
Tomkins decision to kick was disgraceful. A second rower running at a winger, and he kicks it 10 metres before reaching him? Not in a million years is that the right choice.
The incident that followed for me was a Mathers' knock on Billinge.

| Mistakes cost us the game. Fielden & Prescott made a couple of massive mistakes that would cost us any big game, and its not the first time both of these players have done this in a BIG game. If we do make it to the GF i am really worried about the performance of these two. Gleeson was poor as well and is still a long way from justifying his 100k transfer fee.

Eddie Hemmings thought so too, for all the haters
For me a knock on is if the ball is propelled towards the opposition line, he didn't get enough contact on it for that.
I was laughing at him at the time though.

The side on shot of him falling on his face was comical, easily the highlight of the match!
I personally thought as he rolled over it, he knocked the ball forward, it landed on the point of the ball and then bounced back towards the Wire line, but I'll concede it's a debatable one (although I'm right ).

That was the key for me.
The Dire looked like rabbits caught in headlights to start with, but their forwards still battered us - despite all of their handling errors in that first 20.
I think Fielden getting floored (again) lifted them, and put us on the back foot.
And we seemed to stay there for most of the game after that.
Our handling was just appalling from then on. Panic footy, i'm afraid.
Briers just kicked us to death. A lesson Sam & Tommy would do well to learn in future.
Not our best showing this season, by a long way.
Still, it was brilliant to see a 'leyland Warrior' sticking down a four-pointer in Super League.
[iWell done Tuse --- You made us all proud![/i
Other than that, lots of lessons to be learned if we want to a) Take the Hubcap & b) Get to the GF.
We move on.......
