| In recent years (cos this thread appears every off seasonicon_wink.gif, was the win at MM.
We couldn't go, but watched at home, with my 11 year old who is ever the optimist betting me ever the pessimist that we would win.
He said if we did he would do a moonie down our (very long) street.
Well we won - I have a video of him running out the house dropping his shorts bombing it down the street shouting "WIGAN"!
Great blackmail material and a great win

| I was around in the glory days and would say Brisbane 1994 or Anfield 1991 if pushed, but I think Edinburgh 2002 deserves a mention. Never more satisfying to win a cup when massive underdogs and the opposition fans, who also happened to be our hated rivals, seemed to already be celebrating the win on the way to Scotland.

| Winning the Challenge cup in 1985 after waiting 20 years!
Best atmosphere was at Knowsley Road, Boxing Day 1994; I was in the middle of a load of jubilant scousers and we were down to 11 men. Then we won and it went very quiet indeed.
Too many greats for there to be a best player......but...........most talented = Brett Kenny. Most exciting = Billy B when he got the ball.
Favourite = Bill Ashurst
Worst game; losing to Swinton in 1966; first time I'd seen Wigan lose. It hurt then and it hurts now.
Sincerely hope you see as many greats over the years as I have been privileged to.

CC Final Wigan v St Helens 2002, because it's the only time I've seen us win a cup.
The worse game you have ever witnessed watching Wigan?
SL Final Wigan v Bradford 2001, because it was the first time I saw us lose and it was at the highest level.
All time greatest player you have witnessed wearing the Cherry and White?
Andy Farrell, doesn't need explaining
The best crowd atmosphere you have heard?
St Helens v Wigan 2004, I love away days at Saints.

| Like the OP I too haven't been watching Wigan long (since 2005) so I would have to go for the same best game, but I wouldn't say the 0-75 as the worst. Yes that was bad but the Semi final defeat to Catalans in 2007 was particularly galling as it was a game we should have won and been the first team to play at the new Wembley. Also the play-off defeat to Saints this year was gutting just because we came so close to beating our most hated rivals in their own backyard to reach the GF.

| For me Manly.
CC 85 was an amazing game and the trip back was much better than the previous year
But for energy and atmosphere I don't think the Manly night will ever be topped.
Certainly not in the current ground, that's for sure.

| Wigan v's Aus. 94. I know we lost but it was my first look at the aussie's enjoyed the game.
Harlequins @ home, 2005 i think?? It was the first game I took my boy to and we got battered and where proper crap.
Andy Farrell. A natural leader and imo the last bridge from the past to the present.
Didn't go to the manly game, but i do be excited every time a Saints game comes up.

| Best, Brisbane 1994 and being there too.
Worst. 1963 Cup Final defeat to Wakefield, how did we lose that one?
Best Player, I'd start with Billy, then being Wigan there's so many!
Most unlikely win, Edinburgh 2002. After Saints fantastic performace in the semi we weren't given a prayer. A stunning display from Rads saved at least four tries, won him the Lance Todd and Wigan the Cup.

| All time greatest game you have witnessed watching Wigan?
Take your pick..........
Wigan V Cas 1996 - First year of SL when faz belted the last min goal to win it
Wigan V Brisbane 1994 (although watched on box....so cheating a bit)
Wigan V Saints - Good Fri 2002ish when we won wi'kids
Wigan V Saints - Good Fri 2003 (?) when we came back from 20-0 down
Wigan V Leeds - 2003 - Danny Tickle DG to take us to the GF
Wigan Vs Bradford 2000 'wide to RENOUF'
Wigan Vs Stains 2002
Wigan Vs Bradford 2007
Quins V Wigan 2006 - Not a great game but just for the tension and after that always knew we were gonna stay up
EDIT : After seing the above.....Wigan V Aus 1994 was pretty special as well
The worse game you have ever witnessed watching Wigan?
Go with you on that ............75-0 Wigan V Stains
All time greatest player you have witnessed wearing the Cherry and White?
Kris Radlinski / Shaun Edwards / Jason Robinson / Trent Barrett / Ellery Hanley / Faz take your pick
The best crowd atmosphere you have heard?
Knowsley Road circa 1999ish......first visit to KR...nothing ever beats it but you always remember that first away derby
Last game at CP was pretty special too

| Didn't see the Manly game
So the hreatest game - well the Mission Impossible victory over Widnes was sensational, there was a fantastic atmosphere that day and a massive crowd. A great Widnes side well beaten on the day by a club side the like of which we will never see again in this country.
But for me the game that stands out more than any other was the 8-8 draw with Stains in the 92-93 season. Another massive crowd and from what everyone says about the Manly game this I think was the game that would have come closest in terms of atmosphere to that game. I went to that game expecting us to lose to a very powerful Saints team, we had few first teamers able to play due to an injury crisis but the Alliance team youngsters stepping up to the first team not only put on the Cherry and White and did the famous shirt justice, they played like legends. I don't think I've ever been prouder of a Wigan side.
Worst game - there have been quite a few in recent years, though for me some of the shameful, gutless defeats to the likes of Hudds and Wakey were even worse than the thrashings we took from Saints. You only have to compare the heroics and pride of that young Wigan team that held a mighty Saints side to a draw with some of the absymal displays of recent years to see how far we have fallen in terms of standards, not simply playing standards, the more important standards - self-respect, honour and hard work. Fortunately I have a feeling that those old-fashioned virtues are making a comeback under our new coaching team!
Greatest player - Hanley was a rugby god, Edwards the greatest competitor, Offiah and Robinson incredible athletes, Miles a genius but if greatness is about one player that consistently stands above the others for effort, skill and power, it would have to be Farrell simply because for years he carried the team.
The player I enjoyed watching the most, though? SuperKel!

| All time greatest game you have witnessed watching Wigan?
Tricky one, but I would say Murrayfield this year. As my Gran died the last time we beat them (2007) I had technically waited 5 years to enjoy that win. Other than that - Brisbane 94 but as I watched that on tv I don't count it.
The worse game you have ever witnessed watching Wigan?
The 70-0 and 75-0 week hurt, but Celtic this season was more embaressin imo
All time greatest player you have witnessed wearing the Cherry and White?
Shaun Edwards
The best crowd atmosphere you have heard?
The last min win over Bradford. The roar when the Faz kick went over was awesome

| All time greatest game you have witnessed watching Wigan?
Dunno about great but my favourite game ever was [url=http://wigan.rlfans.com/fusion_pages/index.php?page_id=1368Bradford 18 Wigan 30 at Odsal in June 2000[/url when we ended Bradford's 31 match unbeaten run at Odsal and Neil Cowie scored a drop goal. Great win on sunny Friday Night.
The worst game you have ever witnessed watching Wigan?
[url=http://wigan.rlfans.com/news.php?readmore=326Wakefield 10 Wigan 8 at Belle Vue in May 2006[/url. "Wigan have their Testicles in a Blender" I wrote after that game. Genuinely thought that was relegation sealed when Paaat knocked on trying to score to win the game in the last minute. I should have known though Maurice would cheat his way out of trouble though.
All time greatest player you have witnessed wearing the Cherry and White?
Kel Skerrett was my hero from a great era when Props had to fight as well as graft. But he wasn't great I suppose. Rads it has to be then. He had nothing to prove but still came out of retirement to try and keep us up in 2006 for nothing. His contribution was

Oh yeah that was a slit your wrists night. I'd rather have lost than gone to extra time and losing would have been far, far, far less embarrassing than the next round!
That night was the start of the awful 13 months that followed.

Dreadful, dreadful game. Without checking your site, I'd guess that we had about 4/5 different fullbacks in the space of 6 weeks.

Chris Melling, David Vaealiki, Kevin Brown, Dennis Moran and Sean Gleeson all had a go in a nine match spell that included three games in the middle for Rads. Brett Dallas ended up playing their regular towards the end of the season.

| Best Game - The comeback 2007 vs Bradford, Catalans at home late 2006 the turning point to keeping us up I thought plus any game at CP.
Best Moment - Renouf putting Rads in to get to GF or Richards DG vs Bradford 2007. Also the signing of Fielden is up there too, its just a shame he turned out to be a pudding.
Best Player - Andy Farrell
Best Atmosphere - Central Park otherwise Saints (Good Friday) 2001= 29-28
Worst Moment - Castleford 2006 it was then the threat of relegation really hit home for me or 75-0. We can banish that demon one day with 76-0 (Take note MM)
