Its a more interesting question if catalan beat wigan.

The lowest placed side is arguably the better side.

Pressure on us whoever we pick due to us being at home and coming 1st.

If we are good enough to win it we should be able to beat anyone one at any stage.

Not picking the lowest ranked team would raise eyebrows. Egg on your face if we then turned you over = pressure

NO

No and the reason they usually say for doing so is it is the only way to avoid any kind of controversy which may spur a team on. With any luck this "tradition" of picking the lowest placed team will carry on year after year and the RFL will realise it is a waste of time and the idea can be quietly dropped.

Wigan have just done it at U20 level. They have chosen Wakefield (4th) as opposed to Cas (7th)

Go back to the top five system, it rewarded the team that finished top by giving them a week off in round one, and then they only had to win one game to reach the final.

The top eight rewards mediocrity.

Completely agree and the other feature of the top 5 system that makes it far superior is that for any side other than the one finishing top of the league to win it they must beat [uall [/uthe sides that finished above them to with the trophy.

What makes me laugh here is the fact that everybody thinks that if, and it's a big if, inbreds beat Catalan on Sunday evening, Wire will send them to Saints and they will beat Saints and go to OT v Wire!!!

TBH, I hope they do send pie men to us, I'd rather play a busted side who look shattered, than an inform Leeds team, who I think will do a number on Huddersfield, I'd really fancy Saints chances in the semi final.
