| I don't know why dobbo's try was disallowed last night as we where at the other end of the ground and i haven't seen the replay yet, but surely it was no worse than burrows try last night against cas which was allowed.Having said that a good game given the conditions both teams had to play in, and yes i did question the try before half time as some near me thought we had kept the ball alive after hooter started sounding.Good defensive display by two inform teams, see you at wembley....hopefully..

| Dobbo didn't score. He didn't complain, In Goal judge gave it no try straight away also. Was sat with the biggest anti-wiganer you could know and he called no try immediately.
Dropped ball lost us the game (Ridell from acting half back WTF?! You're a hooker!!!) but the blunder by Silverwood wasn't just a "tough call" or a controversial decision, it was downright wrong and the try was illegal according to the rules of the game.
We had better be making a formal complaint - god knows how many times Wigan have to explain themselves in front of the RFL; it should be their turn.
That was a Millenium Magic-esque decision and he should be demoted for it.
Interesting to see skysport had it on their text pages last night and have as far as I can see removed the part about the blunder this morning. How dare they. Censorship at it's worst!

| We lost that game ourselves regardless of the arrogant, ignorant or stupid decision that Silverwood made.
We were not clinical enough to capitalize on field position when attacking their line and we're not smart/composed enough in the later stages of the game to keep hold of the ball, make good yards and kick down field to control the game.
It wasn't Silverwood who cost us the game, it was stupid errors, poor finishing and very good defence by Hull KR.
They deserved it more.

| Quote ="DaveO"The ref is not the person who decides time is up and has not been for long time, its the timekeepers. The rules about what happens when the hooter goes off have changed over recent seasons but he screwed up tonight.
The hooter went off when the players were on the deck and the ball was dead. He screwed up allowing a PTB after that and I can't see any reason to argue otherwise.
This opinion has nothing to do with the result but Silverwood should be demoted for that decision and no excuses should be made.
Dave'"
That's correct.
However, why didn't the touchjudge just stand his ground and inform the referee that time was up before the ball was played?
Mini reminded me on the way home that a similar instance occurred at the HKR v Saints game at the start of last season. Saints scored in the last seconds but it was disallowed because the hooter had gone before the ball was played.

That wouldn't have made any difference.
The issue is that our two best players weren't even in the squad.
Another issue is that Camel Face is more interested in getting paid his cabbage than he is in winning RL games.

In the game you refer to the try was disallowed because a Saints player passed the ball from the ground after the tackle had been made.

| I was at the game last night and whilst Dobsons try was controversial, I thought the ref was abysmal for both sides. hils acknowledging that somedecisons went our way, your lot were offside all the time, not standing square ( I counted 3 occasions when the Wigan player interfered with the Rovers player playing the ball and he gave a knock on with your feed). cheap shots on Dobson also went unpunished, so before people start blaming Silverwood, take off the rose tinted specs and look at the game from both teams point of view. There were over 8 minutes injury time played at the end, we timed it, and withthis theory, perhaps Dobsons try was allowed as it was scored during 1st half injury time.

This is what people are forgetting, we shouldn't be having the debate about whether the try cost us the game because in no circumstances should the try have been awarded.

Its certainly a good point, the club never get the rub of the green and in relation to last night, we should be pursuing this as far as is possible. Anderson at Saints had a whinge and didnt see an official again. Morgan moans and KR gets last nights call. The club need to make as big a stink of possible about this.

He should. The fella shouldnt see SL again this year. The RFL should have sacked him when they had the chance.

| The reason we lost tonight imo, was a combination of poor execution, bad luck, and excellent defence from KR.
But first I would like to comment on a terrible display from the man in the middle. As a starter, I am not moaning that he lost anyone the game, because he was shocking both ways. Both teams should have been flagged up for offside far more than they were, I think KR slightly more but they did defend more off the line so it is "acceptable" to think they infringed more. The constant messing around with the scrums also annoyed me - they dont actually do anything, both teams were jumping out early in defence, no need to spend an extra 8mins wasting time on it. Also the arrogance to ignore all other officials at all times, I can remeber one instant where a kick had gone out on the 20m line, the touch judge stood there pointing his flag, and Silverwood marched the players past him to the 10, and the touch judge just stood there with his flag out and nothing was done, shocking. Also, the amount of players flooding every kicker after the ball had gone was shocking, especially the Wigan pack on Dobson, which was a bit pointless as he couldn't even run due to injury. The hooter try was shocking, I don't care who decides the timing but if the ball is dead and the hooter has gone, how can you expect the players to know whether they should carry on? Also, I believe there was enough professionl fouls today for some sort of retribution at some point.
However, credit must go to Morgan for excellent second half tactics, using Dobson's kicking game to maximum effect by kicking early in the set, and if our wingers had gone back occasionally trying to push it wide. Also, both KR wingers hanging around their 20m line after about 3 drives was smart, and the game was begging for Wigan to give it to Roberts the instant Fox moved back, I dont think either of our wiingers got a single proper pass. The defence from both sides was awsome, especially McIlorum, who is the second name on the sheet next week for me, behind O'Loughlin who also had an amazing game running fantastic lines all night and showing up in defence.
Wigan's tactics however were poor. Despite many Wigan fans calling for us to play deeper, moving the ball 20m backwards is far too deep when the KR defence is so mobile, we killed ourselves, we needed quick PTBs and enough runners to suck that incredibly dense defence inwards, before Smith putting it out. Also the lovely support play decided to go missing tonight, with tommy offering multiple chances.
Overall a disapointing ending to what could have been a real spectacle of a game, if the man in the middle wasn't so much of an arrogant .

No such thing as 8 minutes injury time - the stadium clock always continues despite the referee's stoppages, so is inevitably wrong, hence why it is taken off the scoreboard four minutes before the end of each half. This issue has no relationship to the Dobson score after the half time hooter, which was a horrendous decision by the referee who should be punished.
Silverwood was terrible for both sides with baffling decisions - Hull KR were as guilty as Wigan for offsides / not standing square / holding down, but he seems to be selective in his decision making and wildly inconsistent making both teams unsure of where the boundaries are at any stage of the match.
In my view there was barely anything between the teams, Wigan the better side in the first half, Hull KR in the second. Its a shame that the difference in the end was nearly the same amount of points that were gifted after the hooter in the first half and that the discussion is whether that decision was a decisive factor in the outcome of the game, rather than some of the brutal defence on show from both sides.

| The ref had a bit of a shocker last night, but it went both ways. Towards the end there were some shocking decisions that kept giving wigan repeat sets to get out of there own 20. One shocker which should have been a drop out and he gave a wigan scrum. All in all great game in awful conditions, brutal all the same. Think we edged it with slightly better attacking especially from acting half.
Love coming to jjb, always a great atmos and made welcome. Best of luck fir the rest of the season.

But it wasn't so it has no bearing on it, We'd have won if you chalked that try off.
Maybe you just need a louder hooter
