I've thought about this too.
I'd take Buderus on the same wage as Riddell.
In regards to his injuries, his main injury came v us in a particular incedent at the DW.

I'd definately take him on a 1 or even 2 year deal.

| Sorry but if Buderus was offered to Wigan now on a 1 year deal I'd snap their hand off.

| I'm sure Buderus agreed a 1 year deal earlier in the season when most of the other Leeds players did.

| Maybe we're signing a better 9 than Buderus, Diskin or Henderson!

We live in hope.
I''m really excited about next year as it is, but were we to sign a top quality replacement for Piggy then I may just explode.

I would like to think so, however the problem is we are going to have to pay a transfer fee for anyone we do sign, I realise that IL is not put off by this and would do so but to get somebody of the calibre we need it's gonna have to be big bucks.
If you consider the NRL then the majority of the Hookers that play are at their prime mid to late 20s (Cam Smith, Farah, Luke and Ennis so would cost a packet. Priddis who has been mentioned on here (told to retire last season by Wayne Bennet) at 33 or the rest who seem to be non-starters. Only poss I would have thought is Hinchcliffe @ Storm if they want to get any more players off their books as they do have the lad who played against Quins before the World Club Challenge this season.
On the other hand you have players from SL, who lets be honest would you have? Roby, Lunt, Diskin? Any of whom are going to costa fortune because ultimately clubs don't like selling to other SL clubs unless there is 'another reason' to do so - E.g. Gleeson, Brough, Cooke.
Can't help but think that we will stick with Tommy and Mickey Mac for at least another season, retain Deacon on another year, providing this new injury isn't too serious (gives us the option to play him at 6, 7 or 9).

| I'm not quite buying into this panic over a new 9 tbh. I'm a big fan of Tommy Leuluai and believe he'll thrive in the position when he gets in there fulltime and McIlorum will be very good back up if he can stay pretty injury free(a big if I know).
We shouldn't forget that whoever starts at 9 for Wigan next year will have a monster pack infront of them and that will buy us alot more room. We will also have Finch at halfback who should get us moving around the field abit smoother and get our field position better with an improved kicking game.
It's a blow to be losing Riddell and if he were here next year i'd be sat smoking cigars at the prospect of filling our boots but if we go in with Tommy and McIlroum i'm fine with that. It'll be good enough to compete on all fronts again.

Yeah, he is coming along with Hansen in exchange for Steve Simms and a can of tuna.

| The Manchester Evening news last Friday said Salford are in talks with one more big name player for next year and if it comes off it'll be a suprise move.
They rumoured Briers or Long but I suppose Gleeson would also fit that bill.
I still can't see it like.

| That would be a turn up if Briers left Wire.
Perhaps Salford have offered him a 2 year deal whereas Wire only one.
It could be true as Wire's squad is getting older and older. Next year they will have 10 or 11 of their first team squad over 30.
That's a lot of players to replace over three years or so.
They may have decided to start unloading the over 30s now and replace asap.
Briers leaving would be a shock but it does fit in with Wire's short/medium term needs.

I believe they're accountants have arranged to replace him with the signings of Cam Smith, Cooper Cronk and Billy Slater. They're throwing in Mathers as a make-weight!

Completely agree NK, that's what I was meaning in my original post, I think Tommy should be the starting 9 next season and Mickey Mac coming from the bench, I don't think the right signing is out there for us, we don't want another stop-gap signing and I would rather we spend money on tying up some of the younger lads like Tuson & Farrell.

| Anybody heard anything on the grapevine about Davies to Huddersfield? I know the rumor went around for a few days but seems to have died down a bit now. Hopefully because there was nothing in it.
