Depends on your definition of great. I would say there are a fair few who have done the above that are not "great" players.

Considering what Melbourne have achieved over the last few years, you'd have to be a great player to get in the team of the decade yes.

Jamie Peacock and Barrie McDermott would be Leeds' props in the team of the decade, and thats just two off the top of my head. Allthough I can understand as a wire fan after seeing years of under achievement you must think that all clubs only have a small pool of talent to pick their team of the decade.

I think everyone is getting a little bit too sensitive about the subjectivity of classifying Hoffman. A good NRL player is still a compliment, I rate him extremely highly but I feel terms like 'great' are reserved for a more exclusive group of player. Let's be real about it - when Melbourne had cap issues he wasn't on the indispensable list.

Its not just the quality of the player. Hoffman is a top class SL player. Wigan have an embarrassment of young local lads in his position. If they can all learn something from the Hoff and we can win some silverware this year he will have been a great signing IMO. We will see years of benefit long after he has gone

Not at all cadoo, i was checking out the general reaction on facebook and there are a lot of positive comments about Hoffman from the Melbourne fans.

Greg Inglis was released as well I think your under estimating how much Hoffman was on/worth to Melbourne they had to cut back on some big players on big wages.

Fair enough. Perhaps they are more genuine than some of the nutters on the other forums.

Inglis was like Folau before him, he had potentially bigger offers elsewhere in the wings before the cap fiasco - Melbourne couldnt compete in any case.

Not saying Hoffman isn't a good player, as it's been a pleasure to watch him this season. I just think that the forum has got hyper sensitive recently to the point that only hyperbole about some of our players will suffice. Granted we are getting a lot of trolling recently, but the unwillingness to accept subjective views just worsens the problem.
