| Why scarves round your head!!!?
Why arrogantly hold up traffic!!!?
All the good work done by the group in the last year or so, now ruined by this embarrassing video.

| Quote ="gerr'emonside"Its not the singing...its the singing about the town being full of s**t, covering faces, and walking down the road with banners blocking the place off etc that I think most fans would object to as being intimidating/ offensive and inciting trouble. OK so a large proportion of fans will sing these songs on the ground, but singing them in the middle of the town, where there are people and families with kids who may just be out shopping, going about their general business, acting this way is wrong IMO. Further its only a matter of time before similar mindless morons from the opposing team start responding to this, we end up with a stand off, a few to many drinks and it all boils over.
Why not just walk to the ground (on the pavement), sing when you're at the stadium, and have a good time like the majority of fans, rather than acting like children and looking for trouble.
Also to compare this to the riversiders lads, who at all matches just go for a laugh, a crack, and a few drinks, and never cause any trouble is a joke. No one ever mentions them as they dont cause trouble, or even get close to it! Ok so many of them get blind drunk...so what! So they had red faces? How the hell is this comparable?!!!!....hardly walking through saints town centre, with scarfs over their faces, blocking roads and shouting offensive chants like some EDL march is it?!
How you can fail to see this as threatening, offensive, and inciting trouble is beyond me?! Your about one level down from the chavs in mcdonalds last week. Grow the hell up, watch the rugby like an adult, and then you might find that adults actually want to be friends with you, rather than having friends, as it seems by your videos, who are moronic teenagers!'"
Cheers
Bit clueless as to why we were brought into this when I defended them earlier in the thread? Each to their own.
I actually closed the video down after about 30 seconds because it was too cringeworthy (similar to how i can't watch videos of me dunk) so didn't see them blocking buses/cars as everyone else seems to be indicating. Maybe that's going a bit too far but I certainly don't have a problem with them singing a few songs on their way to the ground.

Brigantes have done a great job with the flags and improving atmosphere at games and all the new songs, but all that should stay at games. Walking in the middle of the road stopping traffic with a big flag singing obscenities about the town is just pathetic, giving Wigan fans a bad name.'"

| That is embarassing. I'm guessing that's what happens when you visit Warrington and meet violence when you haven't done "anything". The Brigantes idea is a great concept, if done nicely and not in a antagonistic way. The falgs and banners etc look great but come on lads.

| Scarves around faces is the main problem. No need for that! I've never heard of the group involved in any trouble or being violent. And for the record I'm not in the video, I was in the pub as I said previously.

Surely you have to view it as antagonizing though? I seen alot in Chicago Rock in Wire last season, very loud and abusive. Luckily it was very quiet and just a few older fans and families in there. I guarantee there would be huge mither if that were to happen in Warrington town centre. I couldn't fight a cold and in no way shape or form a tough lad, I know a few in Warrington though and that would be met with terrible scenes. Imagine a group of Liverpool fans walking down Chester road doing that?

| They might not cause trouble Nogga, but the point is it antagonises others to react. Imagine doing that today or through Warrington and tell me the locals would see it as friendly banter. Can't account for how others perceive things and that type of behaviour is a ticking time bomb.

| My understanding is that the Brigantes original mission stadium or modus operandi was to improve the atmosphere at the DW. The flags and songs where there because the feeling was that it was not really home for the Rugby. The flags went a great way to flooding a predominantly blue stadium with a sea of Cherry and white.
I cant remember anything about marching round other town like the Shadwell army.

| unfortunately it portrays a bad image of the clubs fans. That may not have been the intention but it is the way it comes across. I know that if I was at an away match and walking to the ground and the home fans came walking down the street in that manner I would feel threatened and be looking to avoid them.
It is the wrong image to show for Wigan Rugby and rugby league in general.

But that is the point, we are rugby fans, we don't need police horses and escorts to and from the ground, we have a mutual respect for other clubs and thier supporters, we don't need segregating, we don't need alcohol bans on the terraces, please let's not follow football in that way. I like the work done by the brigadoons INSIDE the DW but let's leave it at that.

There might be a problem if the behaviour is deemed to be contravening section five of the public order act (1986).

[iThe group have been known to participate in, and often start, pro-Irish Republican Army and Irish Republican chants.
At a match against Dundee United in November 2010, there was serious disorder in the section occupied by the Green Brigade when a supporter was being ejected by stewards. Supporters charged at the security guards and one was left with a bloody lip after a coin was reportedly thrown.
In April 2011 at the Scottish Cup semi-final against Aberdeen police officers attempted to remove a supporter who had set off a flare inside the stadium. Police were unable to remove the supporter because other fans held onto him. Four supporters were later held by police in connection with the incident. More than 100 Green Brigade members walked out of the stadium in protest of the arrests.
At a match against Aberdeen in November 2010, the Green Brigade unfurled two banners with the words "Your deeds would shame all the devils in hell. Ireland Iraq Afghanistan. No bloodstained poppy on our hoops." This protest was against the placing of the remembrance poppy on Celtic's shirt for the 11 November 2010 match against St. Mirren.
In April 2011 some members of the Green Brigade were not sent season ticket renewal forms after the club threatened to disperse the group around other sections of the stadium.

dannywardle96 - the Green Brigade are IRA sympathisers who refuse to respect the minute's silence for Remembrance Day! There are lots of videos on the popular video sharing site showing them abusing the British Armed Forces who put their lives on the line on a daily basis to keep this, and other nations safe.
Wigan Warriors hold an Armed Forces Day at the DW each year to honour all the brave lads and lasses who serve our country - this year's is the Hull KR game on Friday 4th May.
What will these brave soldiers think of our great club and fans if they become aware of the fact that a minority are using the Green Brigade as a respectable way to behave. Anyone who has served in the Armed Forces, knows someone who has served in the Armed Forces or indeed any decent human being will be disgusted that you are using this vile, offensive group as inspiration for your behaviour!!!!

| Using soccer ultras groups as role models? Have we really come to this? I think the answer is, no - except for a tiny minority of immature fools. The problem is that when, not if, trouble breaks out as a result of the kind of immature, ill-judged and in part downright illegal behaviour shown on the video it will be Wigan fans generally and their club that will be tarred with the same brush. Thanks for nothing, lads.
I have been a supporter of the Brigantes and the excellent work they have done in raising the atmosphere both home and away, and I really hope that this confrontational behaviour isn't the direction the group as a whole is heading in.
You really have to be an idiot of the first order to think that blocking the traffic, singing songs telling people that their home town is and that you'll do what you want is in any way acceptable behaviour.
I've always been proud of my sport and my club but if that video is a sign of things to come I'm worried sick.

| I just hope the video has been removed due to the fact they realised it was embarrassing and had potential to cause problems and trouble.
Im not too concerned that its been removed so long as we dont see anything like it again.
Hopefully those within the brigantees will realise that this sort of behaviour just drives a wedge between them and the genuine fans of the club and that if they continue to act in this way they will be castigated and ostricised by the genuine majority. Alternatively, they can continue to do the good things they have done like the flags and songs in the ground and make sure they are thought of highly by the rest of the fans, who will then be more likely to want to engage with them and participate in their activities.
If the brigantees want to be a success they need to be a true representative group of the fans of the club and have their support, and I hope they realise that things like this wont achieve that aim - Lets just hope that this is the end of silly behaviour like this and we can all continue to support the club we all love in a way that isnt likely to cause offence or trouble. Everyone makes mistakes and so if those who have acted like this are man enough to hold their hands up, realise this, and ensure this doesnt happen again that's good enough for me.

| This thread is sad and pathetic to be honest. They haven't done anything particularly wrong apart from enjoying a good day out. I proceeded to chant walking round St Helens town centre in a Wigan shirt but I wouldn't think my behaviour was disrespectful and giving Wigan fans a bad name. Its such a stupid over reaction from people who love to point fingers at others. I am in no way connected to the Brigantes but just don't understand the abuse they've receiving for doing nothing wrong. LIGHTEN UP PEOPLE!

The point people are making is that its not about how you see yourself, its how other perceive you.
You ask people to lighten up, i might suggest the you grow up...
