| Quote ="Mother Feka"Again, read my post properly. I said 'Could this be a case of...' I was just asking the question based on the fact that he cant get a game and looks extremely out of favour at Wigan. '"
I did read your post properly and if you ask the question you must think it is a possibility or why post it?
So if you don't think it is possible I don't understand why you asked the question given you must have seen how he has conducted himself this year which is why I replied. Questions like that have a habit of becoming the next myth that is considered a fact in a very short space of time on here.
There was speculation last year when he injured his wrist he did it in a fight rather than a training accident. If that was how he conducted himself he'd be gone by now IMO.
Quote Personally I have no idea what Ainscoughs attitude is at all. And I dont want him to fail, im a massive fan of his and I think that if he can prove himself to Maguire and Roberts Starts at fullback next year then there is no reason why he cant be given the number 2 shirt, because we all know what he can do when he's on form.'"
I think there is every chance he will play for us again this year if Phelps does not improve. If Phepls falls out of favour and Roberts goes to full back on his return that leaves no cover at wing or centre unless we really want Bailey to play in the centres again. So an injury to either winger or either centre could see him called back again if things pan out like that.
What might prevent that is the fact Pryce doesn't qualify for dual reg status and may well be too expensive to be attractive to other clubs to be a loan target (which is why I think he has been stuck in the reserves and not loaned out already). So we may see Pryce get further opportunities for this reason instead of Ainscough. It's not just about form.

| Quote Could Ainscough be going the way Kevin Brown went when he was at Wigan? Believing his own hype and getting too big for his boots?'"
No ............. and a question like this is just a statement to make others who jump on the bandwaggon to slag him off.
DaveO is right his defence issues are greatly exaggerated - mainly last year to justify dropping him when he was playing well and has carried on this year. I think at his age he has parts of his game to improve and I'm sure that's what the team at Wigan are paid an enormous amount of money to do - improve every players game.
Could understand the crap if he were a senior player and paid 100 grand and not performing but he's a young player with potential and the will to want to improve I'm sure.

I can promise you, there's =#FF0000no way that MF meant it as a statement to make others jump on the bandwagon, you may wanna back the hell off having a dig like that.
His defence issues are both exaggerated, and understated, they don't make him rubbish in the same way that his attacking prowess doesn't make him god and override them. As stated he's a young lad with some flaws in his game that hopefully will develop over time, and as one of our players we should all be behind him 100%

| Christ, ask a genuine question on here and get treated like your a member of the taliban.
Apologies, i forgot that your not allowed to question or criticise our precious home grown talent in any way, ill make sure next time that I will question players who dont have that protective Wigan bubble around them ala Pryce, Fielden, Riddell and Phelps

Its not like I said anything bad though, i dont know Ainscough so dont know what his attitude is like, all that was needed to be said was 'this wont happen because Ainscough has a fantastic attitude' but no, they read what they want to and try start a fecking war.

Well, he was clearly at fault for all three of Quins first half tries today - he was completely out of position, might as well not have been on the pitch...

Repost it about Pryce, Bailey or Riddell or anyone Noble signed. They will be having fits to get to the keyboard to agree.
Ainscough IS NOT as good as he is talked up to be.
Should he have had more chances, possibly, but Goulding has rightly kept him out of the side. He had a chance last week, and was average in all aspects of the game.
Just because he is from Wigan doesn't make him good enough to automatically be selected.

| Last night he looked very different to when we had him at the start of the season. He looked very low on confidence and dropped a bomb for a try and got caught out on a couple of 40-20's which he didn't do before with us.
Giving him a spell with us at a lower level than SL where he WILL regain his confidence will help him no end.
He's a very popular player with our fans and got a great cheer when his name was announced last night and I've no doubt he'll be great again for us like he was first time around.

All right, but apart from the sanitation, medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, the fresh water system and public health, what has Shaun Ainscough ever done for us?

You asked a perfectly reasonable question. I once asked if Gaz Hock kept on making unforced errors because he knew he wouldn't get dropped and if he'd benefit from competition for places. I was shot down in flames and told how we can't cope without him. Lets see what happens if we get him back and he has to earn his place. I predict less brainfarts. Some players are untouchable

I agree I think he's been messed about a bit too much this season and needs a bit of stability with a team.

| I think the lad aint good enough for wigan. He has had a few chances now and has bombed them all he is suspect in defence and suspect under the high ball, granted he can score tries but other players in the squad can finish justg as well. No-one can say he is as good as richards, roberts or goulding.

To be fair though he's young and there's time. I really thought prior to this season that Goulding was slowly letting his career at Wigan slip away, but hats off to the lad he's worked damn hard and been excellent this season on the wing. So I don't think anybody should write Ainscough off, he needs our support.

He's not as bad as he's made out to be either. And to say he had his chance last week and was average is just ignoring the fact the rest of the team bar Farrell were average and he was stuck outside Bailey.
If Goulding had played and been left as exposed by Bailey as Ainscough was there is no way Goulding would have come in for any criticism and rightly so IMO as he has done well this season but people have quickly forgotten when Ainscough got this chance last season he did well also. It seems to count for nothing and I'd love to know why his mistakes are picked over to the degree that they are and other players are given the benefit of the doubt Phelps being the classic example.
One average game in the poorest Wigan side to take the field so far this season and he's blown his chance it seems with some.
Then we get someone posing the question does he have an attitude problem which is right out of left field IMO and is therefore just piling the agony on even more despite protestations it was only a question because regardless of what motivated it you can virtually guarantee some lunatic will repost it as fact because someone posed the question.

Dave, can I just ask you where the hell was this sentiment and backing from you last season during Pryce's appearances, again mostly during poor TEAM performances and being either played out of position or put outside Bailey and Phelps (where Karl actually did pretty well a couple of times)?
I full back your sentiments, I just find it slightly baffling how you can pick and choose your support so easily.

I don't recall being harsh on KP last season? In any case Bailey's performance v Quins was probably his worst as a centre in a Wigan shirt which is surely the point? I am not saying he was great as a centre in the past compared to Gleeson or Carmont but I am not sure what that has got to do with it re Pryce as he was so bad last week Ainscough was on a hiding to nothing IMO.
Quote I full back your sentiments, I just find it slightly baffling how you can pick and choose your support so easily.'"
It might be hard to believe but it's not support but simply attempting to call a spade a spade as I see it. For example I don't feel any need to be contrite about criticising Roberts last year because last year he just wasn't very good for such an established pro. This year he's a different kettle of fish. When Goulding got a lot of flak a season or two ago I defended him because I thought it was not justified but I do recognise that sometimes players just aren't that good. I happen to think Ainscough will come good just as Goulding has changed a few opinions this season.

I don't recall you backing KP either when the wolves were on him in less than ideal circumstances for the player - in much the same way that the Quins game isn't really a reflection of Ainscough's abilities, hence i've come out and said as much in defence of him.
It's not meant as a dig at you btw Dave, i'm sorry if it comes across like that, I was merely curious.
