| Quote ="NickyKiss"How would your grandma have gone on at Quins, or against Saints on Maunday Thursday, at Salford, against cas at home etc?
I'm not saying this kids hasn't got his faults but this old bol*ocks about him not being ready, poor in defence etc is just that. He's a fine young player who needs his rest now and again but we can't tie him up and beat him with a staick everytime a 6ft 4 winger outjumps him.
Richards tore Raynor to bits at Hull a couple of years ago yet i'm sure the Hull fans didn't say he's useless that Raynor, all the trys he's ever scored have been walkins blah blah blah.
I fall in between both camps and think it's right to pull him out of the fire now and again but to say he's just not ready on the back of 17 tyrs in 10 games is frankly laughable.'"
Of course it is. But some on here want him and Sam and Mickey Mac in every game, and if they're not then Noble gets shot down.
IMO the younger players ALL had poor games tonight. Do we bin them?
No, but lets not put too much pressure on them, and realise that they do need to be spelled.
Just as some say if we had Tomkins and Ainscough in last week we could have won , will they now admit that if we had Smith and Carmont in tonight we may may have won?
I somehow doubt they will put their hands up.

| Ainscough was right to come inside on that occasion imo. King a a few others were tearing over and he was 99.9% certain to be tackled into touch.
I'll blame Noble for alot of things but on that occasion not a chance.

Mate Tomkins was poor but still created our only try. Was stunned when Ainscough went inside tonight on a try scoring chance, not seen that before and if he continues to do so he will lose the magic, very worried tht his decision tonight was a result of coaching. Mcillorum simply + Mal Alker.

Did you watch it on tv mate? If so what did all the replays suggest? and what about Roberts no try in the first half? right call?
I've only had the initial view but i thought he made the correct call coming inside.
King looked to have him well covered.

Pat knocked on.
Ainscough has scored several tries this year with much less space.

It doesn't take a genius strategist to work out he was on the wrong wing.'"
I think Tony Smith is a good enough coach to have swapped King to the opposite side of the pitch if we had done the same with Ainscough.
If have a short winger facing six foot four players you have to offer them some protection. Even so it won't work every time and I think people have to accept Ainscough will every now and again, be unable to prevent certain scores even if he tries. It's whether or not that matters in the grand scheme of things. So far he is well into the black as regards his value to the team IMO.
It's a bit sad though that there seem to be some real venom in some of the posts focusing on his error tonight. He is a young player learning the game which he won't do in the reserves so its inevitable he will make errors now and again. The senior players do so I am not sure why people think he won't or why people jump in with both feet when he does.

All been walk ins according to some
I initially was suprised to see him come inside but then thought on and came to the conclusion he was probably right but like i say i only got the realtime view.
I was going to start a thread but had second thoughts(as i thought people would think it was a knee jerk reaction about Noble to a bad defeat) about how all players seem to go backwards in their preformence under Noble?
Natural instincts and skills seem to get drained away and are replaced by robotic movements.

| Dave, your right.
However what bothers me is that he never got off the ground. If he had he MAY have put King off.
The real annoying thing was that in the warm up when kicks were coming at him, he always had his feet planted and never jumped.

In my tactical genius i'd have just keeped swapping Ainscoughs wing then until King and Smith thought fook it and stayed on the opposite side to him

| Hmm
Yes Ainscough plays as the winger but is it so hard, that instead of him dropping back on the 4th/5th, Phelps went back instead, and for them 2 plays Ainsy played centre??
If Wire decided to run it instead, Ainscough is just as good in one on one situation in defence as Phelps.

It was poor that is for sure but I think the reaction of some is OTT given his experience.
Noble is going to have to work out how to offer him some protection as he eventually did with Tim Smith. Or he could just drop him. I wonder which one it will be?!

sounds like that's what he's being told to do. Wonder what Hampson thinks of it? Didn't he used to practice on a trampoline?

Haven't seen it yet, been to a concert, will watch it in the morning. Where have I said its not his fault though. Tbh, it matters not, we aint going to win at Wembley, so he isnt going to get a new deal.
However, Noble moves him to the reserves to work on his obvious weakness, and thats wrong.
He selects him, the weakness is exposed, and thats Nobles fault, because we didnt rejig to hide it, it would have been exposed, because he is on the field.
Maybe just maybe, Ainscough isnt the finished product yet and Noble knows a little more than most about how best to help him become such.

Ainscough will always be a target under the high ball, WE CANNOT WORK ON THIS. What we have to do is come up with stratergy to del with this. After 3 weeks off we delt with it by.....leaving the lad exposed to a 6'4" opposite number on the last tackle.
That has nothing to do with him but everything to do with Noble and his ability to coach.

| Isn't it nonsensical to expect him to compete for the kick? He is never going to win in that situation against most wingers, and it would be a shame to see a promising British winger sidelined because of that. Can't they accept that he won't get the ball and then concentrate on how to stop the opposition from scoring?
For example. if Ainscough had let King catch the ball and then either hit King under the arm and forced him dead or got himself under the ball, it would have been no try. Sometimes, you have to accept you are not going to win a given situation, at which point you work out how to maximise your strengths,

| FFS, here we go again...
Warrington were very, very good tonight... We weren't that bad either and it was one hell of a game. Wire have got some real steel in their defence now, and are a team on the rise (6 from 7 now is it?). Morley and Carvell showed what we lack.
No matter what 'protection' we were going to offer Ainscough, at some point, that was going to be breached. Yes we conceded a try, but we will. Robinson was hindered by a similar problem and if memory serves, wasn't he exposed in a rah rah world cup game by Sailor? so even working on it, experience etc, it will remain a problem. The thing is how he responds to it as an individual... or will he become the next Hodgson, Goulding, Brown, et al to the fans
