| Quote ="apollosghost"I'd like to see Mago just steaming the ball in rather than looking for the off-load every time, when he does he usually has 4 defenders hanging off him, a quick play the ball after that and we're in business'"
His game has definitely become a bit predictable. He’s looking for the offload in every single tackle. He’d help himself and us if he just mixed it up a little. You don’t want him shelving that offload because ultimately we’ve all been desperate for us to play a more attacking brand of rugby but just be a bit more selective and try to keep it as a surprise weapon. It becomes far more effective then if you can get defences switching off from it a little. First job first, smash the ball up and then use the offload when it naturally becomes an option, rather than looking to force it.

| Quote ="LewCharnock"Tomorrow is all about field position for me. Hudds don't exactly chance their arm from deep, but they are a very good attacking team in the opposition's 20. IF we do not give the silly penalties away that we have over the last fortnight, I think we will win the game comfortably. If we go set for set with them, it should be straight forward.
However, we have shown this season that our discipline with and without the ball can be poor, and that's my biggest fear. We know that Hudds' gameplan will be to pin us in corners and ask us to come out time and time again and we must be willing to do that, particularly in the first 20. If we don't, it could be bad news.'"
Harry Smith's kicking game from the semi final will do.

I think every player I have ever seen with a great offload has had to learn this kind of balance, about when to try for it and when not to. Mago is definitely looking to offload too often at the minute and, as you say, that makes him predictable. But I think if and when he gets this right (most of the time, everyone is going to get this wrong occasionally) he will be some player.

Definitely. I don’t recall him being an off loader in the highlights I saw of him from Souths, so I think we’ve opened that up for him and allowed him to express himself. If he can just find that balance he’ll be in a much better place.

| Huddersfield are a very good side and certainly can’t be written off. I see why we are favourites but it’s 50-50 imo. We need to equal or better the performance in the semi but do it for 80 mins.
If we respect the ball and are disciplined in both attack and defence I’m confident. Give away cheap ball and territory we are in trouble.

Agree completely, he needs to be a bit more direct. Don’t lose the offload just mix it up a bit.

| On another thread about crowd size I mentioned that you have played Huddersfield in the CCF only once before when you were beaten.
My prediction is that you will get your revenge after waiting over 100 years to do so.
To all attending enjoy your day whatever the outcome!

| Performance was poor but the result was everything. It’s an amazing way to win it, a moment you don’t really get in Rugby League very often. So pleased for Marshall to get the winner. Final appearances and wins have avoided him in the main.

| It's a real weird one, obviously chuffed to win the game and the cup - but we were poor overall and probably didn't deserve to win the game. That said, our defence was good, other than Marshall getting bumped off, but Jerry has done that to most wingers in SL.
We have a lot of improvement in us, just cutting out the silly errors and unforced errors will improve us massively.
Celebrate the win, great for the team and what we are trying to build, great achievement in our 150th anniversary year also.

| We are normally on the other end of defeats like that in recent times but somehow managed to dig in and still be there at the end to snatch the game. Feel really sorry for Cust, thought he had the nightmare you never want in a final but pleased he can get a winners medal at least.

| Gutted for my team- they really didn’t deserve to be on the losing side today as I felt they were the better side overall. I hope the wigan lads felt just a tiny bit embarrassed when lifting that cup- But well done. Let’s hope we can get our revenge in the grand final!

In fairness they didn't do much to be on the winning side either.

I wouldn’t say we didn’t deserve to win, I think it would be fair to say Huddersfield were the better side overall and deserved the win.
From our point of view errors and poor discipline nearly cost us. We did well to stay in there and took our chance when it really mattered. I’m chuffed for Harry Smith, that will do him the world of good.
From a Huddersfield point of view I thought their negative tactics cost them. I think there were 4 or 5 occasions they just took the last tackle on our line while only 2 points ahead. They tried to shut the game down and failed. They really should have been looking for a score or repeat set and playing to put the game to bed.
All in all, none of the above really matters, we won and I’m opening a bottle of fizz to celebrate.
As for Matty Peet, I’m immensely proud to have him as our head coach. He consistently demonstrates honesty and integrity, a true leader.

This. You have to take chances to win games, we gave them more than enough opportunities and they chose to play the percentage game.

Embarrassed? I definitely wouldn't go that far. Three great tries and great defence were enough to win the game, considering we did our best to hand it to you with all our indiscipline. I'd be more looking at the finer details of your own game.

| Definitely we didn’t play at our best, but this team never gives up. Like everyone else I admire Matt Peet immensely. In an age where it seems everyone wants to take the easy route he’s prepared to do it the right way, and put in the effort. This is a young team, for the most part, and they’ve a lot of improvement in them. I thought our young forwards were excellent. And that pass from Tommy L at the end! We have had so many great players, but for me at least, Tommy has a place among the absolute legends of the club. What a happy bunny I am tonight! Apologies if I’m incoherent, but I’m full of champagne and enjoying every minute of the evening.
