Looked like hamstring went, another inexplicable team selection, Shorrocks at centre took that side of the pitch out of play, poor discipline, 10 penalties conceded and the usual lack of go forward

| I keep meaning to bet on SL, but never seem to get round to it. I think it's fair to say that a 12 point start to Salford looked an attractive bet today.
I was not in the "We'll pit 40-50 points on them" sector. And that's not hindsight!

| Will the real John Bateman please stand up. 12 of their points directly attributable to him today. The missed tackled was particularly bad. Seemed almost like a cba moment and I never thought I'd say John Bateman and cba in the same sentence!
There seems to be a lethargy about the team at the moment. Bags of unforced errors and lapses in defence etc. Not sure whether it's the constant chopping and changing or something else. I was hoping the cup loss might have been a catalyst like last year but so far it doesn't seem to be.

| Bateman didn’t have his best game and overall he’s not been at his best but he’s still been a real threat with the ball and I’m confident he’ll get to his top level soon enough. My main gripe with Bateman is his reaction to being tackled, with him pushing and shoving at people before he plays the ball. He has been unbelievably lucky not to get penalised for it so far and really needs to give it a rest because it’s a terrible look.

I don’t ever remember him doing it to this degree. It is every single tackle and at times is slowing down our play.
Just needs to get on with things and keep playing at pace, as we know he can do and he’ll get his rewards.

| On team selection, is it a case of Lam not being confident enough in our back up centres to pick one at centre or is he not confident enough in our forwards that he thinks we need more of them on the pitch to do the same amount of work?

| Missed the game today- sounded like another ugly one. Hope Bevan isn't too badly injured.
Any positives to take from it?

| Positives - a win is a win.
Play like that against a good team and someone is going to absolutely humiliate us soon.

We said the same last season.
We'll lose a game or two, maybe by a try or two, but I don't see anyone humiliating us in all honesty. Even the superb Hull performance in the cup only led to 2 barge over tries and a few penalties.
We won't win the big one because we aren't good enough but our D will keep us in with a shout as it did last year.

| Singleton and Partington went well I thought but there wasn’t much else. We looked like a group of players who’d been rounded up at a few hours notice and asked to play a game.

| Seven league wins from seven and we should be buzzing but it couldn’t be further from the truth. These scrappy wins run the risk of the top brass not fixing the glaring issues, which are the lack of a top coach and the lack of a couple of powerful forwards in the middle.
The really annoying thing that’ll happen this season is that Saints are going backwards yet will probably make it three Grand Finals on the trot. The entertainers are probably the most boring team to watch in the league (and we’re not much better) but they’ve got those big middles to grind out wins in knock out games.

Spot on.
We aren't as good as some make out and equally, we aren't as bad as some make out too. We've got strengths that the other top clubs don't have, but we've also not got the pack of a Saints, Hull or Wire & I think that will be our downfall.

| Dire again.
When I saw Salford’s team sheet, no Sarge, Kev Brown, Mossop I expected a comfortable afternoon. But this team isn’t capable of comfortable afternoons.
Our attack was garbage, playing a rookie loose forward at centre was a head scratcher.
I’ve been French over Hardaker at full back guy. Hardaker just isn’t skilful enough. That forward pass he through to Manfredi in the last 5 minutes epitomised that. Could have cost us the game.
Nice to see KPP get a run, he settled in okay after a nervy start with 2 errors.
Fairly certain our winning run will end next week with BF out injured but we’ll see.
I used to watch our games back (especially good wins) a second time during the week. I’ve not done that once this year. We’re just not enjoyable to watch.

Good job Lam has brought an attacking brand of rugby.

KPP played second row and was ok. He made a couple of early errors but seemed to settle after that. It was a typical early career performance, trying to just keep it simple. You could see he’s got that offload game in his locker but even after freeing his arm a few times he didn’t let it go and that’s understandable.
Harry Smith was typical Harry Smith from what we’ve seen so far. Some absolutely outrageous skill on show but the odd bad decision thrown in. He’s going to learn though and once he has a proper set of props to play on the back of (well if he gets that) and he’s settled down I think he’ll develop in to a top scrum half. The break for Farrell's try was just sensational. It may have been a poor performance overall but I’d have given my £20 for that alone.

It really was something special and made a lie of the opinion that he has no speed. His evasion is what really surprised me though and the cool head to make the long pass to Farrell was something you'd only usually see from someone with far more experience than Harry. Outstanding.
