I hope Edwards does come as it will be nice PR and a boost for the game - he’s one of our sports legends and we need to find homes for legends.

On the other hand, I have always been mildly bemused by the desperation from Wigan fans to have someone who hasn’t been involved in the game for such a long time as head coach. I can see it ending badly to be honest.

Whether he can coach RL or not, we certainly don't want a flake running the team. And that's the way it's looking at present.

I don't understand why he would say the things he's said recently, after parading himself on telly as our next coach, without offering some kind of qualifying explanation.

After rock-steady, multi-trophy winning coaches like Wane and Maguire, I'm not sure I could stand to have someone in charge who has such little self-awareness.

I was told the same, I deal with the owners of PAS and they know a lot of the Welsh RU players, very much likely he won't take over the reigns from the information the lads are privy to.

Personally, I won't be too upset, he was never likely to be a massive success. We should recruit Ian Watson asap and give him a long contract!

Watson? All he’s done is avoid relegation and if that’s where you set your sights you’re easily pleased. I’m still hoping Edwards comes but if he doesn’t, we need a far bigger name and far better track record that someone who’s only achievement is not being relegated.

Chris Chester wouldn’t be a bad shout. Don’t forgot Lam hasn’t done anything previous to this job, only came with good reputation due to being a class player for us

Whats this obsession with Watson? It would be the most dismal signing ever and show a huge lack of ambition.

People should not be writing off Lam just yet. There is still a chance that by Easter we could be flying and carving teams up. Remember nothing is won in the first few games, and they were all against top opposition.

I never said it was an obsession, I simply believe he is one of the best young coaches in super league. It was only my opinion.

I am not writing Lammy off, I know full well we will come round and be there abouts come the business end of the season. I am 100% sure he is back off to Oz in November regardless of how this year goes.

Must admit Ian Watson is a very underrated coach, he does seem to have got together a fine squad for 5 did and change.

It's issues like this with Edwards that really makes me get really down about Wigan. One step forward and two steps back it seems.

I'd imagine IL is feeling extremely p'd off at the moment, having thought he had delivered, it seems Edwards has now backtracked severely. IL has his hands tied, if he really doesn't want to come, there is no point forcing the issue. The two issues are, that he isn't coming, which will disappoint many a fan (me included), and secondly we appointed a stop gap because of him. Had Edwards not committed, we would not have appointed Lam.

It really has turned into a mess for everyone apart from Edwards, who is unaffected as he walks from job to job like nothing has happened.

You cant say that though. Lam had been mentioned many times in the past as an option. He may of got the job anyway. What exactly is wrong with Lam? You cant judge him too much from the teams performances so far IMO. This team is is like a derelict house that has been a couple of player losses away from collapsing for quite a few years. This is why Wane kept them playing a very basic game plan IMO. The majority of the players are just not good enough for anything but repetitive structured RL. Losing Bateman and Tomkins was the final hammer blow IMO. Do not under estimate the contribution of those two players, especially Bateman who was an absolute machine and never had a bad game.

This is now getting silly. Lenegan should of given a press conference or statement on this long ago when i first brought up the possibility that Edwards may not come but instead, he too muddied the waters. He needs to phone Edwards and tell him he wants a straight answer on the spot, hes either coming or he isnt and then he needs to announce it so that we can move on.

Surely it all boils down to one simple factor; is Edwards contracted to Wigan for 2020? IL surely knows. If it's a yes then IL needs to quickly speak to Shaun to stop all the nonsense. If no, he's not actually contracted, then IL has lied to to fans and further afield about the future of our club.

I dont see how he can be legally contracted otherwise he surely wouldnt be saying what he is? Unless there is a clause in the contract that allows him to stay in RU should a top job become available.
