From the number of people I know who have said they are not renewing this time, I would be surprised if the club could hang on to what we had last season. The worrying thing is a lot of them are saying it’s not the money, it’s the game!

I must admit that I was very undecided about renewing this time but my heart ruled my head and renewed 3 .I have reservations about the way SL is going downhill .Having watched the game now for 60 years for me it is now at an all time low.

I've got 5 members of my close friends and family who aren't renewing this year. The reasons given from a couple of them range from occassional games on a sunday having too much impact on other plans for the weekend, to shift patterns that cause them to miss games which means a season ticket makes no financial sense.
However, others who are not renewing have mentioned general disillusionment with the game, and that they see the season ticket as a pointless expense when you also have to fork out for play offs etc as the weekly rounds ultimately decide very little.

Obviously, the reasons for people not renewing probably cover a wider range of reasons than the couple of sentences I've put above. But there does seem to be a general malaise around the game this year.

I live too far away to make it to most live games so tend to watch most of my RL on sky. I'm a life long fan of the game and was a season ticket holder at Wigan up until the time I moved away from the north west. This year though something has changed, and I didn't watch a single game that Wigan weren't involved in, where as before I watched any RL no matter who was playing. I can't put my finger on what it is that's made me not care anymore. I don't think it's the game itself, as I've started to make plans to go to as many of the RLWC games next year as possible and I'm really looking forwards to it, and things like the SOO are always a highlight of my sporting year. But I just don't really care about the domestic comps anymore.

Have to agree tbh. I've renewed but simply because I can't picture myself not watching Wigan no matter how dull the game is. I'm bad enough missing a game through work or other commitments. If I missed one by choice I'd be climbing the walls.

Totally agree. I could never imagine not going down to the dw when the warrior's are at home.

ive not renewed yet and probably wont. had a call from wigan last night asking why not? how could they encourage me to do so etc? they can offer me the old renewal price that has now passed if i agree to it now blah blah blah

I didnt. I told them if you can guarantee me a trophy I will...silence...

Anyway, I'm not sure if this is a sign things arent going that smoothly with renewals, having to phone people??

Yeah, us 2 didnt renew and Emma got a call asking questions and i was shouting in the background "cos youve sold all the players" and "there was only 1 decent home game last year and that was in the cup" and "its not that good value"

Don't get me wrong, we'l still be going to most home games but im dying to get my point across

People are still buying shirts, that offer almost a fiver discount with a ST, but they are having to make 2 trips to take advantage of the offer.

Among the details of the club's press release today they say that season ticket sales are almost at 8500. That's with two months to the season's kick off.

I've just been to look on the website to see if there are any seats round us as we have a friend who is looking to go next year and is it just me or have they been taken down? All I can see is tickets for the Magic Weekend...

I also know that to be false, on a bus to Gilbert Brutus you noticed my wife and myself were 'sans biere' and rectified the situation, though you didn't know us. Sante

Does the club not realise that the main season has begun to mean nothing, No reward, no trophy, no prize money, no promotion or relegation., wrong playoff format, fixtures only released after season ticket deadline etc.etc.etc.
Supportes will now pick and choose the best games live and watch the rest free on sky.
Although the season ticket is good value you can easily miss two or three games during the summer due to holidays. Seems the best time to book your holidays is May/June when DW pitch is being renewed and we have no home games.
Are other clubs experiencing the same slow sale of season tickets?

Correct, don't let facts get in the way of a good moan.

A trophy that is ridiculed as being a hub cap. Prize money that is peanuts (£50,000) compared to Cc and Grand Final winners. No prestiege and no credability.
Take a look a footballs premier league, the league winners at the end of the season are champions, get the main trophy and prize money.
I am not saying get rid of the grand final play off, we have always had an end of season play off. But we must retain the Super Leagues weekly games importance otherwise the fans will not turn up.
