| Quote ="Horatio Yed"BBC1 gets more viewing figure purely because they put the already most watched programmes like Eastenders on it, do you think if they put Eastenders on BBC2 people would stop watching it and start moaning? Geez get a life.'"
I do have a life, thanks.
I don't know why it's so hard to grasp the fact that BBC1 has an inherently larger audience than BBC2 and that putting RL on a minority interest channel like BBC2 doesn't help the game.
On the first point, I googled programmes moving to BBC1 and found this story:
[urlhttp://www.thisislondon.co.uk/showbiz/article-23922043-comedy-hit-miranda-moves-to-bbc1.do[/url
in which the acting head of BBC Vision says they think they'll be able to build a bigger audience for the programme on BBC1 than BBC2. So, TV people think it does make a difference. But what do they know next to a Warrington mod....

| It's rugby though not Eastenders or Miranda or The apprentice IT'S RUGBY!
Here's how it will work
Random person this Saturday turns TV on and will do the tv flick and 1 of 4 things will happen
1.
BBC1 "oh look Cash in the Attic, nah
<flick>
BBC2 "Rugby? is it league or union
<presses info button>
"ah league, nah"
------------------------------------------
2.
BBC1 "oh look Cash in the Attic, bonus
-------------------------------------------
3.
BBC1 "oh look Cash in the Attic, nah"
<flick>
BBC2 "Rugby? is it league or union
<presses info button>
"league bonus"
---------------------------------------------
4.
BBC1 "oh look Cash in the Attic, nah"
<flick>
BBC2 "rugby, hate sport"
<flick>
-----------------------------------------------

If Esatenders moved to beeb2 then it's audience would switch to beeb2 to watch it - fact
if Corrie switched to Channel 4 then Corrie fans would switch to C4 - fact
moral of the story - it doesn't matter if RL is on beeb 1 or 2
why did/do the beeb alternate the coverage of The British Open & Wimbledon & World Snooker et al between the two channels ? - because if you want to watch it,you will watch it.
it's not rocket science

You might want to back that up by looking at the viewing figures of Neighbours and Home and Away. Both sets of viewing figures took a huge drop when they moved to channel 5 from BBC1/ITV

with respect,I don't think you can compare Eastenders & Corrie to Neighbours ! most of the aussie soap fans are based in Earls Court or East Hull !

| Quote ="pondmonster"I don’t think it matters if it’s on BBC1 or BBC2 tbh. I still think it needs to be on what was called terrestrial tv – BBC1/2,ITV,CH4/5. If it were to move to say BBC4 or ITV3 then yes, we would all watch it but would anybody else watch it on the off chance. What we need, and I think that this may have been covered on here before is a regular show shown at the same time each week, not the super league show shown at 11:45pm on a Sunday night one week and a 1:30am the next.
I think the BBC has not moved forward regarding it’s coverage of RL in the past few years. I think we would benefit greatly from a standard show on say Channel 4 / 5 who could seriously advertise us as a sport, show it at say 6.30pm on a Sunday night (a la when they had American football) Freshen up the coverage, be innovative, show a good 40 min highlights of a game followed by round ups / interviews.
The cricket coverage on CH4 was miles better for the game of cricket and revolutionised the coverage with hawkeye/snicko etc and was mightily impressive. I believe it could work wonders for rugby league.'"
Interesting thought and one which I can see the logic in. Moving to CH5 could be a shrewd move considering they're already showing the cricket highlights in the summer and the Europa League in the winter, therefore more chance to advertise us.
The trade off would be getting rid of the larger exposure on the BBC for a more sustained (yet smaller scale) exposure on CH4/5.
Actually, it would be interesting to see what would happen if it was on ITV Granada/North at a sustained time, eventually get people in those areas but not the heartlands (eg Liverpool, Manchester, Preston, Newcastle) looking at us and hopefully working south on that basis. Now where's Elton Welsby when you need him?
