at the start of the season i thought phelps was one of our best players and have been bemused why he hasn't had a shot when he hasn't been injured. and i'm even more bemused that some folk on here don't seem to remember the praise you all gave him and all the "votes" you gave him for a new contract when he was in the thick of the team and doing well



anyway, hopefully the good judgement of MM will prevail, but i am sad to see him go, would have loved to have seen him play again.

Agree that Phelps started the season brightly but his positional sense at full back has been questionable and other players have come in and done an even better job imo - namely Richards, Roberts and Tomkins.

That nails it in a nutshell for me, really sorry to see him go and can only wish him the very best. Makes me recall the days when we used to ship players out just before they went over their peak - it took me ages to get over us releasing Frano Botica for one and it isn't something we have done in a long time. Just can't understand why their is no news on KP, the coaching staff obviously see something in him that I can't

The difference for me is that Pryce is non quota, and i'd guess that he's on less money than Phelps. I'm not Pryce's biggest fan, but he did nothing wrong last season for me, he finished his tries pretty well. If he's happy to continue providing back up for the wing spot then I don't see a problem, the only issue arises if he is sat behind Charnley and Marsh and doesn't look like getting anywhere near the 17.

I'm disappointed that we aren't keeping him, he's proved to be a useful player in his time here, and I was a bit gutted that he didn't play more last season after his great start.

Wont be missed, very average defensively.
