Don't think we have enough quota spots left for that to happen. IL said at the Hoffman/Lima/Finch press conference that we only have one space left. Roberts leaving might change that though, should that rumour turn out to be true

Would be fine with me. Although hopefully we could keep hold of Fielden, but I feel that if Hoffman can do a job at prop, Mossop/Farrell/Tuson should easily get first team opportunities in the back row that they deserve. Maybe if he can handle it at some point in the season Mossop and Hoffman could swap over?

If Willie Mason fancied coming to Superleague he would probably want to be near his best mate, help him settle in and that.

I don't think Willie Mason will travel half way around the world just to be closer to Mark O'Meley. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ < that's his sole motive.

If Fielden goes, I don't think I'd replace him (contrary to what I said in the last thread!), but that said, I'd rather he stayed.
I certainly don't want to bring another 2 overseas signings accross.

Personally I think that if Fielden left we may see Mossop get promoted to front row before Hoffman. I think Mossop's playing style and skill-set lends itself well to playing prop and Hoffman is a full Aussie international back-rower so I'd prefer to leave him there. Plus Madge, Wane and Bitcon will have a full off-season to bulk mossop up, barring an (unlikely IMO) international call-up. Remember everyone commenting the condition and sheer size of the players coming into this season? I reckon we'll see more of the same this off-season

| I would personally like to see more of a role for Ben Davies next season. That could mean one prop moving on, or him moving ahead of Prescott or O'Carroll.

Either way I really wouldn't mind the two of them playing an ambiguous Second Row/Prop role, but I would probably agree that Mossop would be the better prop. How would you lay it out? Personally it doesn't really make sense for Hansen, Tomkins or Hoffman to start on the bench for me.

IF Fielden does move on I feel we would need all of them if only for competitions sake, as well as injury cover.

| Interesting article in the Observer, quoting Waney as saying the club now research potential overseas signings very carefully. Apparently they (SW, Madge and IL collectively) analyse and take account of the following factors:
What type of character is the player?
What the player is like on the training ground?
Is he tough?
Is he better quality than we have?
Based on the above and reading the report in the Aussie paper - would Ennis fit the above criteria?

Well Ennis is certainly a character on and off the field. He's as tough nails and very confrontational, maybe a little to much for some peoples liking. Plus he's the current NSW 9 so quality wise he's right up there.
He's very much a maverick on the rugby field, so if were we to sign him that's what we'd have to expect.
I'd have him in a flash personally. He'd make next year's already impressive squad even stronger with his presence.

If we were to sign him, i'd pay his air fare to come over. Quality player, hard, great ball skills, controls the game, good decision maker.

Given the report about his relationship with team mates and coaches he does not fill the criteria of the current administration, personally I agree though he is an excellent hooker.

The Aussie paper would suggest that he fails the first 2 Wigan management criteria ie Character of the player and attitude to training.
Maybe the paper is incorrect but from comments from fans it would seem they are on the money.
I dont watch a lot of NRL but do people think he is better/ similar/worse than Piggy?

Your right Jon his personality traits don't make him the kind of player I'd expect Lenegan and Madge to sign. But as we all know so many great players in the history of the game have had off-field baggage, and at the end of the day if their able to keep that behind closed doors and get on with playing rugby then I'd by happy to have them.
Finch doesn't really fit the bill either, again being a larger than life character who's flittered from club to club and had his fair share of problems. Then again Madge's knowledge of Finch from his days at Melbourne may have eased his and Lenegan's concerns with signing him.
I'd like to think that in the right environment with the right things expected of him, Ennis could be signed and thrive at Wigan, away from the pressures and expectancy of the Aussie media.

Yeah it's tough to relegate one of those three to the bench but 2bh I haven't seen a whole lot of Hoffman recently so I know a lot less about him than the other two. His height and weight (6'4" and 17+ stone ) suggest that he'd probably make more of an impact than HH and Joel from the bench, like a Willie Manu or Greg Eastwood style back rower. Madge knows Hoffman as well as anybody though and will know how best to use him

| Id rather play Hoffman in his usual position at second row we all know what most Aussies are like in their first year over here, The Hoff could only be over here for 1 year if all ends up well with Hock. I wanna get the best out of him and that will be at second row. Its looking likely that we will lose Fielden to Hull so hopefully we can Sign Coley up for another year still for me that leaves us 1 prop short. Someone like LMS would be a good signing for us now especially if Fielden goes:
8-LMS
9-Ennis
10-Coley
11-Hoffman
12-Tomkins
13-O'Loughlin
14-McIlorum
15-Lima
16-Mossop/Prescott
17-Hansen/O'Carroll

I thought that TBH, it doesnt have to be him just someone like him - he's nothing special and theres others in the league just the same we could get cheaper, Nick Scruton, Liam Watts whos been brilliant for KR this year, even heard a rumour we are looking at Jamie Peacock ideally though would be to resign Fielden but i just cant see that happening if Hull FC want to throw stupid wages at him like we did.
