Coley went because Ganson had given a warning before halftime that the next penalty would mean a binning. The line between tackling late and getting there just in time is a fine one so it could be argued that he wasn't really late but just committed. However, given Wigan's pretty generous gifting of penalties just before halftime, you were going to get short shrift from Ganson. To be fair, Ganson did give Leeds exactly the same warning not that long after Coley came back on and so they would have had the same treatment had they lost their discipline.

So far as the tackle on Tomkins was concerned I thought it looked bloody awful, could have broken his neck and deserved a red plus at least a two match ban. However, from the re-runs it looked like Ablett led with the shoulder and as we found when Bailey did the same thing on Maurie last season, that's a legal tackle and McLennan will just talk the RFL out of doing anything. I don't think leading with the shoulder anywhere near the face should be legal - it isn't in the NRL - but that's the rule and so I doubt whether Ablett will get a ban even though I reckon he should.

Bailey will get a telling off for the knee. That is illegal, whether in attack or defence, and so he will be charged and punished but I doubt very much he will get a ban, even though I think he should.

Glad you lot won, by the way. I was far too supportive of you, bearing in mind my allegience. I think it was that tackle on Sam Tomkins that did it for me. I wanted Leeds to lose anyway because I always want Leeds to lose and they were breathing down our necks. But that tackle just turned it for me and I [ireally[/i wanted Wigan to win after that!

However, I've recovered and so now you can lose all your remaining matches and get kicked out of the playoffs at the first opportunity. Thanking you kindly!

The question remains why JJB wasn't sin binned after tackling the player after he'd kicked the ball, not long after they'd been warned it was the next one gone.

A real stinker of a performance from Ganson tonight.

I had to laugh though at the ironic cheers of the Leeds fans when their team was awarded a penalty after 31 mins - about 15 minutes after Ganson had inexplicably failed to give Ablett the red card. They must be the stupidest fans in RL.

Awfull strike to the head with his forearm/elbow, definate straight red. Mclennan went down in my estimation by trying to defend it after the game, also couldnt help but mention our wrestle in the tackle!

I have noticed this a few times too and it is a worry. Joel always reacts when Sam gets rough treatment, far more so than if it was any other Wigan player, and it could potentially be very costly to us.

Was no worse than j tomkins on Richie myler... Wigan fans easily forget!!

Well this is my take on it from a leyther, Ablett without doubt should have been red carded, it was a truly awful attempt at a tackle, and credit to Tomkins who made nothing of it and got up straight away and showed what a real tough guy he is, not like the players that give him so much stick in most tackles. By the way Tomkins is a fine player.

For the most part of the match I thought he was ok

Tomkins gets targeted every week. I'm really impressed he puts up with it - I'd have snapped by now in his situation.

u all moan about the rfl bottling it against leeds but i think u have all forgotten u should of been relegated a few seasons ago for dodging the cap so whos the real cheats here, oh and btw u havnt won anything yet remember saints have finished top twice and won nothing anything can happen in the playoffs
