| I think you overestimate the importance of Lee Smith's celebration if you think that will be extra motivational somehow. Wigan will be right up for this game as its simply a big game against one of their major opponenents, and one they want to win to cement top place in the league.
The real question mark is how motivated Leeds are. Our form this season has been patchy to say the least, even with injuries as an excuse. I really think the squad is focused - for the time being at least - on the CC at the expense it appears of the league. Its not a great mindset TBH - and that's not how the Wigan side of the 80s did things, if anything they prepared for big cup games by playing hard in the lead up games. I can easily see a Wigan win next week.

Agree with most of that.
Leeds know that 4th is the best they can't do - but they also know that Hull are pretty poor and as long as they win one game and the game at Hull (which they should easily) they should have 4th sewn up. This allows them to target the cup matches.
If Wigan throw absolutely everything at them in the first 20, I can see Leeds subconsciously taking the foot off the gas and not wanting to get into a torrid game the week before the semi final.

I very much doubt that, I can't see any rugby player, at any level, thinking "oh no they're getting rough, I'll back down and try to make the game easier" If Wigan go at them in the first twenty then I would fully expect Leeds to give exactly what they get, regardless of whether they have a semi final next week or not.

I wouldn't either, which is why I said "subconsciously".

I was just trying to make a point.
I still maintain theres not a chance in hell that Leeds will back down if we start ripping in.

| Lee Smith might not even play. Webb is now back. Smith played left centre against Salford as Senior was rested. Peacock should be back, and Burrow might return also, but thats less certain..

I was wondering what Howard from the Halifax ads was doing these days.
