You cant help but feel sorry for the lad, victim of situation and environment it seems. He is at least grown up enough not to blame it on anyone but himself. He is probably our best player on his day, we dont have anyone who can replace him as such but that shouldnt be taken into the equation really. I think we should stand by the lad and try and help him get his life back on track, our badge says ancient and loyal. Loyalty is about sticking with people through the tough times and the bad no matter what, to do otherwise would reflect bad on Wigan in my opinion. Offer him a reduced contract for a couple of years, keep him in the picture etc.

Are you sure, I thought he could be given a community role, I read that he is just banned from anything to do with playing/training etc.

Not 100% but I don't think he can be paid by the club for anything to do with RL.

We should know within the next 8 weeks.

What ever the rules about him being around the club..he will know if hes got a playing future with wigan.they will give him a fitness program and will know every step he makes. IMO of course

Yeh he's banned from any activity at the club except for the rehabilitation programme - which could actually involve community work I suppose. He wont get paid a penny by Wigan but they wont 'sack' him either from what I've been told.

If he gets a 2 year ban does it start from when they announce the ban or from June when the test was done???

I do understand it. I think two years is a sufficient ban and perfectly justifiable and sets out a deterrent to other players.

My point was more the lack of consistency of other off field incidents which happen in which the RFL don't get involved or even seem to want to take a stance on. For me GBH is a much worse offence and although it's not "in the rules" the RFL should ban people who commit this offence also just for bringing the game into disrepute.

Quite right. I am aware of the rules. Perhaps wrong choice of words in the original post. By "don't see" I was more on about the lack of consistency. I think 2 or maybe more year bans should be set for other off field incidents.

I don't support drug's in anyway. But reading the article it was 'Danielle' (Hock's GF) that has completely changed him over the past few months in a very good way, but a real shame recently one mistake has ruined it for him.

I do hope he will be back in the Wigan side in 2years time, I don't care what people think about that, he was possibly the best player at our club, lets just hope he keeps on top of his game, some way or another and is wiling to fight for that Cherry and White number 11 shirt once again!!

After reading the article from the OP, the sympathy I had for him originally has all but gone.

Basically, he takes it when he's drunk and around the wrong group of mates.

If he had any respect for himself, the fans and Wigan RL, he'd have got rid of those mates and if needed, got help for a drinking problem immediately.

That is so easy to type/write, but to do for real is a totally different story. It seems so easy.

Of course it is, but that doesn't make what Hock did anymore acceptable.

If he doesn't have the self control not to resist the temptation to take coke when around these mates, then he should leave them.

Similarly, if when he's drunk he finds himself taking drugs, then he should give up the drink.

He claims in the article that he woke up and regretted it the next morning etc., but clearly he didn't regret it enough.

Face is, it wasn't a 'one off'; he did it knowingly over a sustained period of time, and that is unacceptable.

So in one interview he claims hes not an addict and in the next states hes going for rehab
