I don't agree about the fact he made a go of being a 13 all because of Barrett. I think you do him a bit of a disservice.

I also think the fact he had his best game for us for a while tonight playing most of it at 13 is no coincidence.

However I want to reiterate the point it isn't about individuals but what is best for the team and as I said I think it well worth a try swapping them about.

I don't mean to do the lad down because i rate him highly but i thought the relationship with Barrett and him getting regular games was more of a factor in his good form last season then him playing 13 instead of second row.

I just believe at the moment we have the form 13 in superleague and really wouldn't want to risk that form by moving him away from the position.

Both are fine players.

Back on topic:

Bailey is one of the players most of the posters on here want rid. All of a sudden Hock 'leaves' and Bailey plays up and is being touted as a player we should keep.
The fickleness of our fans is astounding.

Was he British I'd say keep him. Good club man, gives his all and you can depend on him. Never does anything flashy, but rarely lets you down.

However we need to look for more than that in our imports and start to get some match winners.

Good player, good guy, but he doesn't have the quality to warrant a quota space.

As for the Locker's not being Captain!!

Whatever, I must have heard Locker's scream 5/6 times at the team in teh 1st half, unusual if you ask me, the loss of Hock, as had a huge impact on him, and it's a real shame that he's picked this injury up.

Bailey will be released, we need a winger

Not by me, at the moment i still think he should go, but he has upped his game since Hock has gone, much more responsibility to perform.

Bailey should only be retained in my opinion if our recruitment has gone wrong and there is cap and quota space for him, but had he been playing for the last few years like he has of late then he would have been a certainty for a new deal.

No one really knows the extent of the influence Bailey has on the squad and the club both on and off field. Its clear he's one of the main leaders on the field and its for this reason that I genuinely always have had a nagging doubt as to whether we should release him or not.

I agree with that.

We should release him but we need to replace his experience and mainly his leadership.

A pack leader needs to be signed

I think he has an influence similar to Bryan Fletcher.

Unfortunately at Wigan if you don't run 50 metres every time you get the ball and beat three men you are not good enough.

That has always been at the back of my mind as well. On the face of it with the players we have in the 2nd row and coming through logic says he should be released.

I have always said though that he is a clever player and one who knows when to give a penalty away.

If you look into the quota and fed player rules we could keep Bailey next year, the players at risk from that are Carmont and Phelps.

Prior to the Hock situation I thought his best chance of a new deal was if Noble remained coach. Now he has a better chance IMO.

It is a tough call because we have, apparently, some very good players coming through.

If he was off-quota and on a lower wage I'd say keep Bailey given his positive influence on the development of younger players and his ability to do the honest non-flashy work well. However in the circumstances I think he has to be released for the sake of the club's long term - even without Hock, second row / loose forward is an area of particular depth in the squad and I'd rather Farrell, Mossop and Flanagan get a chance next season as they are the future of the club, not a nearly 30 import.

Falls into the category of Phelps - a decent player, but not the class of import that justifies a quota spot.

Id like to see Bailey stay if his influence is as great as it appears, its not like we can rely on the likes of Fielden in that department is it.

Id like Phelps to stay as well.

TBH the one id look to release if need be might be Carmont.

Bailey should not stay he is not a good enough player, although I would not complain if he did stay as it would mean he must add real value to the squad off the field for him to earn a new contract.
