John Kear kicked him to death.

He certainly did struggle with teams who picked him out

| Will Noble shock us all and put him at fullback with Pat on the wing I hope not, I’m sure the coaching staff have been training Shaun for pressure under the highball at kick off and in play. As for Ade the Aussies must have been wetting themselves when we had him to offer in the world cup doesn’t work to well without Gidley does he.

| Ainscough can take a high kick (see the Danny Brough kick in the highlights as an example).
I really wish our coach would come and back Ainscough up "bring it on" or "he can handle any pressure" but he has already come out and criticised Ainscough after that four try defeat so he would be contradicting himself.
I would have been/will be shocked if Ainscough didn't get a lot of kicks his way anyway. He is an easy target, he's young, not that tall and has made a few errors previously under high kicks so to me it seems an obvious thing to do. Hardly requires any deep thinking into it really so I'm not that concerned.
We should target Meli all day long. Richards v Meli he has no chance.

It surely won't take rocket scienece for a superleague coach and ex international and grand final winning coach to come up with a plan of protecting Ainscough abit more!
I'd basically just swap him and his centre around on the last play if it's coming down his side and tell Ainscough to get in a position where he can sweep up any lose ball if anybody loses/parries it.
Theres other things they could do if needs be.

We'd have Gidley running through him all day on the 5th if that happened IMO.

Thats the downside to the plan and why i'm not a superleague coach
I think at the end of the day maybe they just have to trust him to play on his wing and defend the kicks that come his way but the one thing the team has to do is not leave him as isolated as he's been a times so far when dealing with these kicks.
The space between him and his centre for the 2 kicks on Sunday was criminal.

Admittedly I haven't seen much of him except against saints and on TV, but all this kick stuff sounds like a storm in a teacup.
He's a young player and will make mistakes and learn from them. It was ever thus.

Rah rah World Cup final as well even though they did go on to win it.
Remembering having a mare at Cas once when he was selected at Fullback under the high ball. I think Robinson was a bit lucky that he did not get tested more, I would also say that his ability under the high ball did improve when he went to Union, but it certainly has to, and i would also like to add the more distance we can put between Ainscough and Robinson the better given his current job!

It's not been that bad to be fair.
Alot of trys are scored from high kicks to the corners so the wingers always going to be in the line of fire and plenty of other wingers have been outjumped for trys this year so far.
It's because Ainscoughs just making his way in the game that people pick up on these and again fair enough.
It might help the lad though if his own coach would stop babbling on about his weaknesses to anybody that will listen.

The problem in kicking to robinson, was if he caught it you where in trouble as we all remember how devastating he was in attack. So why he may have the odd mare, he could ruin your day if you were a team and he caught it.
Let SA take the kicks, he will have to get used to it as it will happen more and more, and he a good match up from gardners point of view.
However tactics may change if he picks a few up and makes good easy yards.
