| here's a thought:
what if we actually win tonight and put in a hell of a performance, what will certain members of this site whine about then.
it really does my head in all the years I've watched Wigan (since 1977) a lot of fans have felt the need to have a 'boo boy', someone no matter what they do will never gain the respect of certain Wigan fans, Mathers and Noble are the latest
Get off their backs, show some support and get behind the lads offering encouragment instead of being so bloody negative all the time

Then he'll get a pat on the back. But will it cancel out the two previous seasons of boring, inconsistent rugby no. He's then got to continue it into the next week and the week after that etc before people truly get off his back and it shouldn’t be any other way.
How many times do people have to keep pointing out that we are an underperforming team and have been since he saved us from relegation. Losing to the likes of Wakefield, Hull KR, Huddersfield & an injury ravaged Hull last season then running out of steam in the SF of the playoffs isn’t a great achievement!
When we get a good run going then I’ll hold my hand up and say I was wrong about Noble. It’s not happened since he’s been here as our greatest run under him in the past two seasons have amounted to three games hasn’t it?
Untill we produce consistent performances against the weaker teams as well as the stronger ones then fans will be happy. I know I certainly will

| It wasn't too many years ago when noble, then at bradford lost his first two matches of the season, the second to lowly widnes. A good section of bradford fans called for his head, but bradford went on to win the grand final. Its a little early to sack him i think. Who else would you get in who could do a better job?

| Noble has done brilliant getting us to semi finals but what does Noble no favours is his style of rugby, for the last 2 years we've complained about it again and again and again.
IMO we needed a period of stability after the Millward 'era' which we have had but now its time to stop walking and start running again. For IL to make a sucess of Wigan RL he needs for us to break the top 2 strangle and will Noble be the man to do it? Personally i dont think so, i think the games moved on.

Exactly the game has changed since Nobbys days at the Bradford, we need to have good defense and flair in attack instead of just bullying teams in defense and up the middle in attack.
Noble will not leave though as IL will not want to pay him off.
If we have to replace him for next season though, bring in a young manager and take a risk but have some experience with him. With a young succesful manager we could be sorted for 10 years at least.

| I've no fetish for props at all.
What I do know is that Bradford's and Saints success in SL have been built on relentless power from their front rows.
How many times recently, like last Friday, have Saints come from behind?
You can hold them for 40-60 mins but in the end they wear teams down and over run them. They create that space the halves and backs need to put the score on the board.
After all, how many tries does Gardner score from 40 mtrs out?
He scores the vast majority from 20ish mtrs, the ground and space been provided by the front row and having a class centre.
Until we have a front row with four big experienced props we won't make that ground we need to give space for the tries to be scored.
Last week Fielden, Feka & Eamon were excellent, but we needed another good hardworking prop. Hull's front row were always taking the game to us rather than the other way round.
Until Ian Lenagan signs the props we need we will not make top spot.
No use blaming Noble, Lenagan decides how much money is to be spent.

Stranger things have happened.
I still believe we have a side capable of challenging this year. Everyone needs to remember it is a marathon and not a sprint.
But tonight we need to get running as the last two weeks we have been tying our chuffin laces!!

Is it not Pollard?
They have been very vocal and very clear in saying that it was down to Noble.

| How many times have they said Noble has control over who is in the squad? If it was Lenegan who picked the team, do you really think he'd leave out the youngsters, when in the pre-season he's been going on about how we will be using them?

Evidently you think we should however I disagree. Noble can turn this side around but to improve on the consistency we need to look at the problems we have (Ball retention, utlising tactics correctly etc.) and improve on them in the best possible manner. I think the hiring of Hanley as a coach/mentor would be a good step as he could progress to the top job over the next few years, offer us a different style of play that Noble can use to improve his overall tactics and if we have Hanley perfoming the plays on the training ground and leading us on the field on the training pitch it can help to enhance the leading abilities of our senior players on the pitch to know what to do if it's not going smoothly.

We do, but we don't have a god given right to win every game. We need to improve or look at alternative methods to help us improve, firing Noble though is a weak decision for me.

| sack him. as a manager, if my team performed so badly and i had to explain to the company why after being set certain targets i didnt meet them, i would be sacked no matter what was happening within the squad of players.
you can only blame the players so much although common sensically you would blame them but at the end of the day he has to go cos he is the one who calls the shots.
NOBLE OUT!
