I think Brough would be an excellent half back partner for Tomkins if he signed.

Why are people assuming if we signed brough we would automatically have to let some one go.

We have just released tim smith.

Brough would mean 5 players for 4 places thus keeping everyone on their toes and adding that bit of depth.

Competition for places is healthy where form is concerned.

4 players fro 4 places would be wrong as complacency could set it or someone could get injured.

Brough would be a straigh swap for smith and i for one think it would be a very good replacement and would make us stronger as a squad.

If it's affordable and comes after us getting at least one forward in thats how I read it and i'm all for it.

A prop has to be the number one priority for next season and it looks like we could have one tied up hopefully so after that I’d be more than happy to add a player of Brough’s ability to our side.

It’s not like he won’t add to our squad or 17 either.

If all things shape up like they should next season we could be looking at having a good squad

If we sign 2 props and brough and release Tuim smith, Bailey and gaz hock i would be happy.

For example, Brough, Griffin and Carl webb added to the sqaud.

Tims smith, hock and bailey released would make wigan a far stronger and more dangerous proposition next year.

What would happen to Mcilorum tho? It would be a shame to either lose him or send him out on loan although there must be some question marks over his injury record over the past few seasons.

Gotta admit also one thing about having Brough, Tomkins and Tommy as our HB/Hookers is we’ll finally have that continuity over a good few seasons we’ve been crying out for.

Adding Webb and Griffin to the front row will add some extra nastiness in there as well.

IMO Leuluai, Tomkins, MM, and Riddell are all very good first team players. I wouldnt want to leave any of them [or Brough out, seems an expensive luxury imo. I'd much rather have another young hb who perhaps wasn't ready for 1st team rugby week in week out being the 5th player into the 4 positions.

I'd also rather get 2 Top Drawer props rather than 1 Top prop, 1 good/average prop and a decent hb.

We have the best set of young 2nd rowers in the league, probably the 2/3rd best set of backs ehind leeds, probably similar to saints imo in the league, with a decent pair of hookers. Just the front row thats letting us down.


O'Carroll has to go out on loan next year, i think for me Prescott is the more developed of the two, and is already a good solid super league player. Feka is feka, he'll keep doing what he doing. Add Coley and then 1 Top Prop would make it a fearsome front row. Just missing a bit of intimidation.

Sign the 3 of those and we'll challenge for honours next season imo.

We'll have grunt, biff and some direction added to whats an exciting backline and fantastic collection of young forwards.

why would he want to do that? not as if he's a coach with a team in the same league, who's quite likely to play one if not both these teams in the playoffs.
