No I don't see why we're looking at a halfback either.

Sam Tomkins and Thomas Leuluai have formed a brilliant halfback combination these last few weeks and both players have long contracts with the club.

Michael McIlorum has played some superb rugby before he got injured and is looking like a real talent. We have invested a lot into his development and so I can't see us getting rid neither can I see the logic in loaning him out to another club when he is clearly super league standard. I don't see why we should loan him out (as some people suggest) to accommodate another halfback we don't need.

Same with Mark Riddell. He has another two years left to his contract and has also showed signs of real improvement and intent. Initial fears about his fitness have gone after he has put in near 60 minute performances in due to McIlorum's injury. I think it is wishful thinking (well not so much anymore) that he is homesick - certainly seems to be enjoying his rugby to me.

So when you add all that up signing a halfback makes little sense and logic. Especially when you consider the balance of the squad and the fact we need to strengthen in the forwards and not the backs.

Seeing this is the rumour thread some guy on BBC 606 has posted and he's sure of it that we've offered Bradford £200,000 plus S Fielden and K Pryce. First reaction, it's BS but it would be nice were it true, after all were that deal to happen as far as I'm concerned were winners on all fronts. I am pretty confident that Burgess will be leaving the bull's but sadly not for us, I'm sure the lures of manly wont go unheard on his ears.

There was a rumour earlier in the season that we were letting them have Nobby and Fielden in exchange for Burgess.

I find that difficult to believe. As someone else said, that's a hell of a lot of bread. Maybe the cash and Fielden would be more reasonable. Why would we chuck Pryce in as well? - unless someone's finally decided that he's just not going to make it. Though - on second thoughts, Bradford seem to be very weak in the three-quarters. Maybe they're insisting on gettin Karl back? You never know.

It is a little steep in terms of two players AND 200k isn’t it.

Is Burgess worth all that and also the wages he’d probably demand as well? Probably not imo.

LMS isn’t as good as Burgess but he’d be a dam sight cheaper in both wages and a transfer fee. 50k + Ainscough on loan maybe to get him from Quins?

Sounds made up with the figures involved there but imaging our front row next season if some rumours came true.

McIlorum & O'Carroll should go out on loan to a SL Club as part of the deal, because if we sign a Prop & HB it's those who will be missing out and rotting in the reserves.

Nobody has suggested that he has signed, somebody asked everybody their thoughts about why Brough would be talking to Noble with a member of the Wakey staff in Nobles office at Orrell at the weekend.


If he did go watching his mate as has been suggested, I would think his mate would be quite dissapointed that he had come all that way to watch him play for 20 mins then leave.

I have to tell you, I for one am quite interested to know why Brough was there. It's intriguing, and I'm not quite clear why folk have dismissed it as a rumour so readily.

Well I saw him in the gym watching the game from the window and it had me wondering if he might be in talks with the club.

Then I realised earlier today, Jay Pitts was making his debut for Leeds' reserves. It probably makes more sense that he was watching him.

It's a long way to travel to watch a reserve game though. I think he still lives in Hull.

If Wigan as a club want to actually progress up the SL table Danny Brough is not the type of player we want.

After that Danny Brough would be a very good signing. He's one of superleagues better halfbacks and can organise a side very well.

He would thrive at a big club imo and wouldn't turn out to be Dennis Moran mark II.

I think Brough would be a quality signing... as long as Sam Tomkins and Tommy are not leaving the club.
