So if Stains go bankrupt they can just sell off their shiney new stadium, bank the equity and all is well
Tenant contract terminated if DW goes "bankrupt" and sells the stadium?

Saints fund part of it, a sizable chunk coming from the sale of Knowsley Road, the council, Tesco, and McManus's back pocket.

£15, if you were on the ball, which is pretty cheap for what was a top class game of RL.

the problem with wigan-saints games is that over the last few seasons we have played too many and its lost its appeal imo
i much prefer playing leeds now.

For a start you need to take off the season tickets holders from both figures as they will have not paid those prices.
Another thing you need to do is compared the attendances against the same teams from last season to see what the true comparison is. When you've tried and failed to get your head around that simple principle, I'll show you the answer and how Wigan actually made money on the discounted ticket prices against Leeds.

I don't dispute that, so I'm not sure what you're getting at. I don't know how the stadium will be funded or how ownership will be divided up, but having a £25m new stadium on the balance sheet doesn't to equate to "income".
Quote And the "mystery valuation" of which you speak is no such thing, the cost to build is £25million, so ergo, its worth £25million, simples?'"
Nothing to do with ticket price/attendance revenues which was the direction of the thread. Infact I'm struggling to see what warranted a mention of Stains' unbuilt stadium

| with that argument how come you dont fill you ground every week without away fans? madness....
On the ground basis we put 12 million into Whelans pocket for the sale of central park and the debt was wiped clean by Tesco, bit like will happen with Saints. They put money in like we did, tesco do like we did and then some from the board like we did as Whelan had took over.
Dont start an argument on fan basis as Saints can never win the argument as Wigan and Leeds have been front runners for a few years now.

Like about 25 years+
Leeds overtook Wigan 7-8 years ago.
Wigan held it from approx 1985 to 2001.
Prior to that Hull FC had the highest average attendances.

I dont see how wigan can have made more money. Wigan have around 10k season tickets, Saints around 6k, so the figures are even worse from wigan's point of veiw
10000 x 10 = £100000
or
9000 x 16 = £144000
but all that is irrelevant.
Wigan got 20k @ £10, but would have got 17k @ £15 (minus 10k season tickets), so lost very little or made some and brought alot of new supporters to the game, a great idea!

You have got to realise, for a lot of non wigan fans, no matter what we do fault has to be found!
Its quite sad, but if it makes folk happy then fair enough, personally i cant think of any ocasion that would make me so mad, that I would feel compelled to write a letter to a paper. Especially about a club that wasnt my own!
He is probably one of those "massive saints fans" who only goes to Wigan games and finals, but speaks for the majority, to anyone who will listen!

Possibly because many non-Wigan fans chips have got bigger as those 15 years have progressed. You're one of the more enlightened non-Wigan fans who posts on this forum, but there are precious few like you.
That's not self-pity by the way. It's a statement of fact.

Like I said you need to compare the same game v the same opponents otherwise you're comparing apple and pears.
Wigan didn't get 20k at £10 because season tickets holders have already paid for their season tickets. The discounted prices only affect those that buy their tickets.
Last season we played Leeds twice at home with an average of about 14,700.
Take off the 10,000 season tickets and Wigan sold 4,700 tickets at an average of about £16 (which will be higher than reality but I'm being conservative) = £72,500 money made from tickets.
The Big v Leeds attendance was 20,200, take off the 10,000 season tickets holders= 10,200 x £10 (again higher than reality but probably not higher than the one above) = £102,000.
So given our previous attendances v Leeds we made money by discounting ticket prices. This doesn't take into account the extra merchandising etc we made as well bring potential new fans to the game.

And did you see the que for the caravan around the South stand? They must have made a mint that neet. BTW did you know that Wigan RL sell more merchandise in the Wigan Athletic club shop than Wigan Athletic (info courtesy of our CEO)

You are so right - his letter was also in the League Weekly so he's written to at least 2 papers complaining. Maybe he's offended that any other game could be called the 'Big One' apart from a Saints game???
