The thing which really irks me about this situation is that the biggest loser in all of this is Wigan.

Gleeson has got another SL contract
Wigan are out of pocket & a quality player down.

hardly comparable situations. Hock was cut and dried. With Gleeson, and i am a big fan of the player, we just don't know the back story, and he does have "form".

You're right "we" don't know hence why I put "alleged" in my post so only commenting on the speculation. If it's something worse (though I can't think what and I haven't heard any different) then fair enough. My opinion and always has been is that I'm only interested in what the players do on match day.

I remember from reading Jason Robinson's book (the interesting first half of it) that before he went t-total he regularly turned up to training hungover/still drunk. It didn't affect his performances.

I think, if rumours are to be believed, then the club simply had to act. Letting Gleeson's actions go without punishment wasn't an option.

I've thought that a few times myself but I guess what ever Gleeson did the Wigan club thought it crossed a line they weren't prepared to compromise on.

Maybe we set our standards high, maybe Hull don't or maybe Hull just see an excellent opp to snap up a very good player for very little.

I don't, however, think Wigan would have gone down this route if it wasn't a serious offence or distraction on Gleeson's part.

If it is confirmed then the Hull board are making a monumental mistake in allowing Agar to sign him - their problem is not a lack of quality players but the lack of a quality coach.

They remind me of Warrington before they brought in Tony Smith who wasted about 3 minutes getting shut of Martin Gleeson - wonder what made him do that?

We may have suffered a little in the short term but im fairly confident that Wigan have made the right decision.

Richard Agar may sign Gleeson but their BOD will have to approve it and agree his salary etc. If the BOD said "Don't be so bloody stupid Richard" then he wouldn't be signed.
The problem at Hull firstly is the BOD. They are useless.
This proves it, to reunite Long and Gleeson at one club beggars belief!
It will be fun though and never, ever dull!
HKR fans won't be able to call them "The Dulls" whilst that pair are at the club!
