Would Menzies be worth a year to help further develop Farrell and Tuson?

Playing regular superleague rugby will aid their development more then watching a 37 year old Aussie train and take part in matches whilst they kick their heels in the stand.

I know where your coming from but they're abit too advanced in terms of games already played to need a mentor. If it was a scrum half in the Stacy Jones or Andrew Johns mould at 33-35 coming in and helping guys like Mellor and Powell develop then fair enough.

I agree, Second Row is not a position in which we need an experienced head to come in and help develop out young players. Faz and Tuson have already shown they can handle Super League. IMO if we were looking to bring in someone with experience to develop our young players it should be a centre, thats where we are struggling at the moment.

Surely what you're meaning by that is would they get in the Aus side?

Atkins isn't is he? Thought he's been dropped since he played papp last year. Think he'd be a good international winger mind.

I think Bridge is quality btw.

i couldnt give a stuff about shenton..... carmont doesn't have better stats then bridge or atkins though does he?

Carmont vs Atkins - Carmont has more Assists, metres, carries, tackles & offloads.

He certainly does, and his winger scores tries by the bucket load.

As Phil Gould said about Atkins "the lad can tackle all right but he can't defend, he's totally lost!"

If you think comparing Ryan Atkins stats with George Carmonts disproves this then you are very, very mistaken!

To be perfectly honest, that's kinda what im hoping WILL happen. I like Wane, and undoubtedly he will be a Wigan coach one day soon, but he's still only had 2 years around first team coaching.

Going to Aus will give him more experience, as well as improving him as a coach with the newer techniques, and can come back to Wigan a better coach than he is now.

I'd been thinking the same but two years is a long time in sport and I'm not sure if SW would want to wait around for that. From the clubs point of view they'd effectively be giving a guaranteed job to him in 2 years time. Not very motivating for whoever comes in. I would like to see John Winder involved because he's a good coach with good credentials and I'm told Madge thinks very highly of him.

How much experience do people think Waney needs? Is two years not long enough? How much more can he possibly learn from being an assistant?
