| Bowen didn't have his hands on the ball when he was pulled back. He'd already been obstructed by a Cas player which made him juggle the ball. The ball was in the air when he was pulled to the ground and prevented from regaining possession.
If there had been a video ref at the game there's no chance that try would have been awarded.

| ^ oh I'm well aware of that Father Ted - there'd have been reasons dug up to rule out most of our tries if there was.
One of your tries was an ourgageous obstruction when compared to Channing's.
Swings and roundabouts.
That being said, Hudds had 4 disallowed against Leeds on Friday - 3 would've been given if it were on a Sunday

And that's why there should be a video ref at every game (or none at all) The game is played under a different set of rules when games are televised.

It's not really a different set of rules though is it? We are just better at picking things up on televised games. Surely that's only the same as having the best officials on the big games, which I've never heard anyone argue against. If we can afford to have a video ref on every game then great but I'd have thought there would be more pressing things to spend money on currently

There are tries scored every week in 5 non-televised games that would be subjected to slow-motion scrutiny from 3 or 4 different camera angles, it needs to be the same across the board. It doesn't even need to be the full big-screen effort that we get at Sky games, there was a stripped back version that was trialled a few years ago (it was a Hull derby IIRC), where the video ref just relays the decision to the on-field ref through an earpiece.

I was at the game in question and they had 4 cameras set up 1 at each corner, some decisions were referred and all seemed happy with the system, the trouble was at the time the rfl's take on it was it was going to cost 200 grand to put the system in place and the clubs would have to pay for it which they wouldn't do

Exactly! They could probably run a proper reserve league for that

| Great try, solid and some other nice runs/touches. Another step forward and I think he'll continue making them. He needs to take more command still for me and really push himself in to the attacking line but it will come.

| Yeah good game, great try - next step hopefully will be he gets involved a bit more, perhaps taking the ball from dummy half occasionally.

| Apart from his excellent try his performance today was just how he performed vs cas - he is safe under the high ball, good in defence and starting to link up well with our attack. Some people are only just seeing this because of the simple impact his great try had. Pleased for him.

Last year he took 1st, 2nd and 3rd man positions he can play any of those roles with ease.
He showed signs if it tonight as the season goes on he will fill all those positions.

| He had a good game.
When he beds in i'd like to see him drop in at first receiver and maybe take the line on from there.
We've been working the same wrap around move for a few seasons now and it would nice to throw a curve ball like this in there as well.

last season he played best at 1st and 2nd receiver he barley ever took it at 3rd receiver. he is much better at creating space and stepping rather than chiming in the line.

a 3rd pivot is a sam tomkins role
1st pivot is a matty smith role
he isn't the quickest anymore and some times it seems he is struggling to get round and pop up on the outside of the defender. He is much better at dragging defenders to him and creating space around him it just gives him more time on the ball.

I actually felt sorry for Gardner. He is one of those players with too much heart.
Every time he took it up he got absolutely spannered but he kept going back for more.
As for Bowen's lack of pace, Burgess struggled to keep up with him until they both got in full flight. His acceleration is still very impressive.

| I enjoyed Bowen's try tonight and I thought he played quite well generally. Very safe fielding kicks but I still don't think he has sussed out his role.
Maybe Wane needs to take advantage of what Bowen can do rather than try and turn him into Sam T MkII
