So the fact that your saying "IL will soon have the figures right" and "that we are ok now thats all that matters" means what exactly? we weren't ok then?

I'm not wanting to go into a big re hash of the CP issue - i have not got the time at the minute, sadly. - but i don't see how you can ignore that when it comes to Mo as if he was in no way involved with the financial mess we ended up in.
The financial reports made it clear it was a long term problem.

He honestly can't be for real. I don't know how old you are - I'm barely old enough to remember what Mo did for Wigan first time but please if you are un-educated on the matter - do not continue to post.

im old enought to know whats goin, mo left us to go to the rfl, he left it to jack robinson who didnt have a clue what to do, mo then came back to take over again and start spending the money he didnt have AGAIN, maybe thats why its a long term financial trouble where in, he had to leave us because he was ill, yet still had something to do with the latics

You presumably would have preferred us to continue trundling along at the bottom of the First Division, occasionally getting relegated, never winning any trophies, playing to 6,000 crowds max?

Mo gambled more than he should, but he was very unlucky with the subsidence under the new stand. That cost us a fortune, and was the real beginning of our financial problems. Even so, we're still alive, we're still here - and we have a package of awsome memories from that era.

Mo made Wigan into so powerful a brand that they were never likely to be short of buyers when they ran into difficulty.

In a way he made us too powerful. The glory days ended approx 10 years ago this weekend IMO, and we've never yet been able to live up to the standards that we ourselves set. It torments the Wigan fans daily, as these message boards will attest.

That was Wmebley 1998, the begining of the End was Salford in the cup 1996.

There were a lot of things that I didn't agree with Mo on.

However, there is no doubt in my mind that whatever he did, he did with the best interests of Wigan RL at heart.

It's quite ironic that in his first tenure, he was, in the main, Vice Chairman. Jack Hilton was the Chairman, but it was Mo who was quoted in the press, Mo who made the announcements etc.


Overall Mo loved Wigan RL and he loved the game. Many argue over some of his decisions, but I understand that it is sometimes very hard to make those decisons, especially with a club the size of Wigan.


Imo Mo was a giant of the game. Thus far IL is a pygmy. I sincerely hope that IL can grow, but thus far I have seen no evidence whatsoever.


In any case I believe that Mo has been good for Wigan RL and I would like to thank him for his contribution over the years.

I'm going back to our first match at the JJB - ironically, Cas in the first round of the play-offs. That was the night I finally realised the good times were over.

It was a horrid night all round wasnt it. The glee from every other fan and them morons on Sky will long live in the memory.

In 1997 when Bradford went unbeaten until they'd already lifted the title, everytime Saints lost it showed (according to sky) how good Super League was and how difficult it was to defend your title. In 1998 the same was said about Bradford.

In 99 however, it was simply that Wigan were poor (which granted at times we were) rather than everyone else being stronger. That bias has never changed.

Aye , everytime the great wigan side is brought up on sky eddie and stevo will go ' those days were boring' and 'wigan bought their succes' etc even though the league was often won on the final day , sometimes on points difference. Yet the prospect of a third consecutive title for Leeds , just proves how great super league is! Unbelivable bias and i love it

Well exactly. The most competitive Super League ever and yet i'll bet in a Leeds/Saints final for the third straight year.

I'm not so sure and it's been a while since I've been able to say that.
