| The two articles from todays papers which are in question, both written by Martin Richards.

I still think McGuire will be are head coach next year along with Wane as second in command, where this Harris rumor has come from I don't know but I certainly wouldn't have any problem with him having some role within the club.
It looks like the club are having a real clean out of coaching staff and obviously were going to need to bring in new people which is fine as long as there the right people.
It'd be nice that when ever we vacate the play-off's Lenegan is interviewed after the game and then is able to announce live on SKY who will be are new coach for 2010.

Personally i would much prefer someone like Nigel Wright to come in as an assistant over Harris, he has a fantastic reputation done his time in Australia and the UK as a coach and is now surplus to requirements at Wire mainly due to the failings of James Lowes.

Or let the Head coach (hopefully mcguire) choose his own. I would like it to be Wane though.

One of the reasons why the Harris rumor maybe be true that I can think of is because of his knowledge of the British game, if McGuire does come over his knowledge of other teams and there players is going to be non existent and I would imagine the same could be said for Wane who I doubt takes a massive interest in other teams and there players.
Harris would offer a helping hand having played against the oppositions for a number of years knowing each teams strengths and weaknesses and passing this onto who ever's in charge.
I wondered why Nigel Wright had left wire but he also could do a similar role for us that I mentioned above.

Firstly, why wouldn't he have some knoweldge at least? Secondly, how would he be any different to Nathan Brown in this regard?

Nathen Brown Had Anderson to help him..i understand were LTS is coming from. Doubt we'll see Harris at Wigan tho .
There are plenty out there who could come in as a consultant type
Rads
Scully
Just to name two who would give Maguire valuable info on players.

Perhaps non existent was a to harsh a world but certainly his knowledge of the competition won't be up there with other current head coaches. Nathan Brown had the assistance of Paul Anderson a player only recently retired who's been involved with Superleague for the past decade. McGuire on the other hand could be coming in with a second in command in Wane who hasn't been involved with topflight Rugby for quite a few years.
I personally think that the addition of someone such as Harris or Wright with there knowledge of the British game would be a good move.

| I think it's a case of the press trying to keep the story alive by adding Sharpe to the mix and then throwing in an outrageous comment about Harris coming to Wigan, when they actually have no idea or proof.
Wane is far better placed to act as assistant, or coach for that matter, than Harris. He knows the players. has their respect and knows what it means to wear the cherry and white.

That's right just like Shaun Edwards and that's why I'd probably be in the minority in saying that were Edwards available to be are coach for next year, I personally wouldn't want him as head coach but rather as second in command due to the fact that he's been out of the game for a such long time.

Sorry to be labouring this point but having Shaun Edwards as number 2 leaves you in a worse position than having Shaun Wane, doesn't it? How would he be able to offer any advice to such as McGuire about current RL players that McGuire couldn't already glean elsewhere?

I'd have Edwards as a number 2 to because of his limited knowledge of coaching Rugby League. There's no doubting his knowledge of the current League scene would be worse than Wane's, so yes it would be weaker to have Edwards as a number 2 in comparison to Wane because of his lesser knowledge of the game.
However Edwards may excel in other areas in comparison to Wane it's just hard to say, either way Edwards won't be coaching Wigan in any capacity for a while yet in my opinion.

I think knowledge of the game is more important! We should play our game and boss it our way without playing to try and lessen the other teams strengths but play to our own.
Edwards would do well at Wigan but it's not going to happen.
I think Mcguire and Wane will know enough about the rest of super league, I don't see the problem.

| McGuire won’t be fully updated on all the players in SL but if the things we hear about him are correct he’ll be studying everything he can in prep for the new season. Hopefully he’s been signed up for a while and will have been watching our previous games on DVD so he can set up a plan of action and hit the ground running.
I like the idea of Wane as his number two as well. Put the cat amongst the pigeons so to speak and guy everyone seems to respect and hard as nails much in the same way Greg was.
Either way I like the look of that coaching one two next season and hopefully with a new conditioning coach we can maximise the undoubted potential we have here

This is the main point for me, too many of our players underperform consistantly and this needs to change, some players do not look fit, the players are good enough to finish in the top two when at their best.
Hopefully the new coaching staff will bring the best out of our players.
The best thing about having Wane as number 2 is that the head coach could get some great advice on which young players to put into the team. All the young players coming through will have respect for him and will no doubt be up for it when they get the chance.

| I doubt he's been signed up for a while, the papers still report that we are still chasing him - having said that don't believe everything you read.
I really do hope we get McGuire but whoever is in charge I hope we get behind him and the team - even if the team loses the first game. Let's not write them off - be patient (I know this term is almost glued to Wigan RL in past seasons but we really do need this) success won't come straight away.

Defo have to agree with you on that! His new methods won't take effect straight away. It's not a switch he can just turn on. It will take time for the players to get into his new ways of thinking.
Can't wait now if it is McGuire who is comming!!!

I will throw a name in for conditioner, John Harbin, Australian, ex Wakefield coach then teamed up with Ian Dowie at Oldham Athletic, Charlton,Crystal Palace, QPR, Coventry, well respected in football circles and pioneer of many new idea's in this country.

This sounds to me like he is our new coach. I would be made up for the guy if he was, he is a winner.'"
Yeah he talk's a good game but I wouldn't say from listening to him that he's got the job for definite he may in fact just be preparing himself for a number 2 role within the club. Either way the guy talks a lot of sense and obviously has a lot of pride for the club so where ever he's involved I'm sure he'll do a great job for us.
