I dont see how having the magic weekend in Edinburgh is such a forward step. Its nothing more than a weekend away for the fans. I would rather we held the magic weekend where more people would go. The crowds at Cardiff and Edinburgh have looked poor on TV. Its the one game of the year were i really cant be bothered going. TBH it wouldnt bother me if we scrapped it all together.

As a long standing Sheffield fan, the magic weekend idea wouldnt work. The city isnt passionate enough about the sport (yet) and its not Edinburgh or Cardiff in terms of scenery and variety, plus most of the city centre is being renovated at the mo and car travel in the city centre is terrible on a good day. A Challenge Cup semi is deffinately the aim.

Following up an earlier point, when Wigan came out of the hat, United were desperate to have it at the Lane, it just had to be Saturday instead of Sunday (due to Wednesday v Pigs footy match). Otherwise it would have been Friday night at DVS (which no-one wanted).

I have 1 ticket spare foc if anyone wants it.

Indeed we did, but that wasnt fair on Thatto Heath and isnt fair on us this time. It stinks to high heaven to be honest.

I was there and it was more like 5,000.

The stand holds 7,000 and was pretty damn full.

If sheffield lie and say the attendance was just short of 3k when really it was over 5 do they get to keep more of the gate money....?

I've a feeling they haven't counted any of the free tickets and 2,950 was the paying gate. That makes sense and if so it isn't fiddling Wigan of anything.

Do you think that by not counting the free tickets that part of the reason for offering them in the first place is being lost? For my thinking the scheme has two purposes; firstly to get more people to go to the games (which has worked) and secondly to show the public that fans are going to these games and that the challenge cup IS still important to RL fans. Just because it's not covered and financed by SKY doesn't mean it's not important and doesn't exist.

When Jo Public/ casual SKY TV spectator scrolls down the CC results/attendances he'll see less than 3k went to see the SL leaders play at Sheffield and think... poor showing, obviously CC doesn't matter.

I nearly fell off my seat when that figure was announced. I guess there were spaces at the end of the stands, but it was packed in most parts. No way were there only 2950 spectators at that game!

If that was the official crowd, bramall lane must only hold about 16k
