Just for the record the Gleeson transfer fee (in total) won't affect the profit apart from the depreciation charge (usually over the term of the contract). So say 2 year contract to keep it simple; £50k would hit the p & l this year and £50k next year.

For me the most damning question of the night was the lady from Chorley Panthers ARLFC. They have 200 kids playing regular RL, Saints have been scouting there for seasons, picking up Matty Ashurst and a couple of other known names along the way.

As previously thought, 90% of the club's time and efforts are scouting at St Patricks ARLFC. If you don't play there there's a good chance they don't wanna know....Its been going on for years!

Hopefully the wheels of change are turning though, lets bloody hope so!

Mark Flanagan is going to aussie next year... and maybe linking with our "sister" club... as he wants to go over there for 1-2 years and we then would have the option (if he wanted) to come back to wigan.

IL interated the point viamently that " Wigan is a club that is focussing on bringing the youngsters through" and that foreign signings are the exception not the rule.

IL also said that the wigan scouting system needs and will improve to reach cumbria, RU players and be alot better that it is now..

To be fair to the guy he has put his money were his mouth is.He seems to know a lot about IL and his buisness dealings and is not impressed with how the club is being run.Some of the things he was saying to me were worrying,like harliquinns went bankrupt under IL,

I think IL tried to answer all questions and was very open.... I think the new openness under his regine is 10 million times better than it was under Maurice Lindsay.. and i think he should be commended for being so... even if some of the fans don't like what they hear... at the end of the day... I believe the way the "Business" is moving and the plans that are in place are a hell of a lot better than the previous regime...

To be fair, recently a few young lads have been signed from Ince Rose Bridge and IL did mention St.Judes as we all know young players are often signed from.

IL did admit however that the scouting system could be better and they are going to be looking at spending more time in the future on the scouting system to improve it. For example looking at Rugby Union and in Cumbria and in the South of England.

Yeah but it's been pointed out that loss is a significant reduction on what we lost the year before. You need to put it into context.
