| Nowhere near as annoying as a woman sat near us who had the most cringeworthy voices, "that's disgusting that is" about 10 thousand times when Paddy got a shot on him. "Their fans are making them turn against the ref" blah blah blah, just coming up with complete and utter drivel.
The best one was though, "If that wasn't a high tackle then I don't know what was" clearly it wasn't a high tackle as he would of given it! Some of our fans are utterly clueless when watching a game, sometimes makes me wonder do they actually know the rules. Anyone who was seated on the side towards the screen will know who I'm on about!

| Quote ="Cruncher"There'll always be this argument about whether teams who are showing nothing should be given stick or noisily supported.
I'm divided on this. Emotion often gets the better of me and I shout angrily during matches, but I pride myself on never having booed. '"
Well I don't know about anyone else but when at games my vocal support is kind of automatic. By which I mean if the team are defending the line or close to the oppositions line for example, I automatically shout encouragement. If a player makes a howler of a mistake I will usually curse or groan - it's an automatic response.
If I see players being slow to a scrum as has been mentioned then I will yell at them to get a move on - again it's an automatic response.
I have never yet been able to condition myself to cheer a poor performance and I also do not go to games intending to give team team a hard time either.
I simply react to what I see and if what I see is generally of a poor standard then you won't get cheering or clapping from me. But even when playing poorly if they get a sniff of try or are defending the line it's back to shouting my support. And so on.
Isn't reacting to what you see or has gone on normal!!??
If that means the players end up with more people groaning at them then surely it's just because they have played badly?

Firstly, my boss loves me.
But again, its a totally different situation, if I knew I was doing my job, but as a group/team overall we weren't hitting targets/performing etc then its only right the team get a combined bollocking. That being said, if I knew I was doing my job, I wouldn't have a problem with it. Given Ainscough is top try scorer in SL, im sure he is aware he isn't the main problem we currently have.

| Well I was clapping on Monday, and hooting with laughter too .
Though, if I'd paid hundreds of pounds to go over to France and had seen my team look as unfit and just downright disinterested as your lot did at times during the match I'd have been ranting big style.
For me, players should get support when they deserve it, if they are trying their damndest but it isn't coming off then thats's fine I support them, but to cheer them on when they look less interested than the hot dog seller is pretty idiotic.

The original poster mentioned dislike at the negative singing. Its interesting how quickly this turned into an attack at people who sing how great we are and clap meaninglessly.... surely there is a whole spectrum inbetween?? You might not like what you are seeing, and many people sit head in hands or arms folded or whatever, no need to clap and cheer. But I still get the point as to why there is a need to sing such negative songs at them either - we still have a role to play in motivating them?
Just an observation that this started as a "why sing negative songs/abuse" and turned into a "why happy clap".... whereas the majority probably think neither are the most appropriate.....there is a vast range of options in the middle?!

Yeah ok mate, how do you expect them to wanna play to a set of fickle pathetic fans, and thats what wigan fans are fickle, eg, they played a gruelling game against saints on thursday night, played the best team in super league and if we had a decent stand off we would of takin our chances and won, we then fly over to france hard trip, the first 20 minutes wigan 14-4 up no one said a dickie bird, no one on that field could do no wrong, then tiredness kicks in and we didnt touch the ball (no ball no trys) usual wigan fans booing.
so what do we do Noble out, and get who

They're professionals, they are used to the stick. It's all apart of their jobs. I'm pretty sure they don't go home and cry, and if they was so bothered they should perform better.

| Maybe it will work ?????
Take last season, the home drubbing against Huddersfield, the south and east stands at the JJB joined in with a "your not fit to wear the shirt" which the players took personally, infact i remember them the week after going of the pitch without clapping the speccies as they usually do. They seemed to have a kick up the backside after this point and started to move in the right direction.
Its the same in any job, if your bad at it, or your not performing you should expect to get told. Unfortunatly being a pro RL player who have plenty of people who are willing to do so.
Half the Wigan fans have simple given up and accepted that we are no longer good enough, these are the ones who were singing "greatest club in the world" when we have just conceeded 36 unanswered points on monday night.
The other half are NOT willing to accept it, and this is when the Wigan fans started to clash after the game on Monday, i heard several slanging matches between fans, and one that almost boiled over into someone physical.

| We're sh*t. Simple as.
That squad is the best Nobby has ever compiled according to the man himself......on paper possibly......on the pitch not a fu*cking chance.
I won't boo a sh*te performance but I won't clap one either.
Oh and Carney's Babe - word of advice - learn to spell players names before ranting at how much of a fan you are compared to someone else.

Singing after we let 36 in without reply baffled me i remember but hey, thats how different people deal with adversity.
I dont remember seeing any scuffling/slanging amongst ourselves as one or two people have said. though i was in deep thought wondering how on earth our manager is gonna talk his way out of this one whilst queueing to get out.... but he did

| Im a better fan than you thread I see?
Wasnt in Perpy this time but could understand a frustration to the players performance as a team. Apart from that I cant comment on what was chanted.
Fans can sing what they want but there is a line between perhaps unhappiness/frustrative chants and degradable/ unspirited chants.
Im sure 99% of fans aren't* soo low, we'll always have a few and a few more jumping on a bandwagon. What i've heard this season (not much tbh) it hasn't been distasteful.
