Looks more than good, it looks VERY good.
When you then factor in Charnley and Sarginson there's a lot of skillful strike players and lots of pace to boot. I'd get Thornley into the other centre spot and shift Gelling into the pack.
Imo that back line would compare well to any other top side in SL.
After that we are a decent prop short of a completing the side. It doesn't have to be a world class one either just a guy who can turn out consistent performances, good yards and decent minutes. An Andy Coley type signing would be perfect.

Aye, sometimes it's wishful thinking to assume a former player will just slot back in to be the linchpin. Maybe the money it would take is better spent on a couple of fresh but very good players.

If Tomkins did come back I'd be more inclined to look at him at 6 with Hampshire at 1. I think the plan would have always been for him to end up back in the halves and it'd be more dangerous to have the quicker player chiming in from fullback.
A massive part of me wants him back but there's also part of me that thinks he's got a bit of unfinished business in the NRL and right now he's only really shown them about 60% of what he is capable of.

Another name I'd throw in to the hat as a player is like to see us sign would be Ben Crooks. He's not had a game at Parra yet and he's too good to play reserve grade there for too long as he'll waste his talent. He's got rough edges but he's a talent. He's got good pace and footwork and us a very capable goal kicker.
I'd be targeting Tomkins, Crooks and a prop for next year. I'm not sure how realistic that is money wise but Bowen, Burgess and Patrick will surely be off and Pettybourne left late in the day.

Very good shout but I doubt we'd go for him simply because of Thornley and Gildhart. We know that both are highly rated at the club and rightly or wrongly it's not likely we will bring another player in.
We desperately need another prop on our books. An extra prop opens up a multitude of options in the pack like allowing Tautai or Clubb to cover Lockers at 13 whilst not compromising on our front row options.

| To me Hampshire looks like a Danny McGuire replica in the way he likes to play. Playing him at fullback and exposing him every week will demolish his confidence because simply, he isn't a fullback. If Sam comes back, I'd like to see him at fullback and Hampshire at 6. That does create options and serious threat as both can be devastating runners, defences would have to be on their game to keep both quiet.

| Sam is a superstar ( we did the double in 2013 with him in the team and won nothing last year without him in the team!). He is still in his prime and if he is available we have to move heaven and earth (and a lot of cash!) to sign him.
Get him back for 2016, preferably with a prop and possibly a centre, and I am very confident we will do the double - or even the treble!

| If Sam returns he will in a way be self funding.
The increase in gates, sponsorship and season ticket sales will pay his salary.
That's without finishing higher in the League and getting to Finals and hopefully winning trophies, again!

| I know Wigan have first option on Sam, but it will really depend how Sam felt if another club offered him more money, and as he was on a 3 year contract with the N,Z, Warriors a fee would probably have to be paid to them as well.
This evenings M,E,N carries an article with the Sam wants to come home story and it says that the good Dr of Salford would be very interested, especially if the Marquee player exemption was implemented in July. I seem to remember it being reported that the good Dr approached Wigan with a million pound bid for Sam prior to Sam going to N,Z, which means it could prove to be a bit expensive for all concerned if Salford enter the race for Sam.

I keep hearing this story, but it seems to me that if he was prepared to spend a £1 million on a single player, he could probably get almost anyone on Earth. Re. Sam, let's just hope blood's thicker than water and that he wants to be back with Joel and Logan.

Mike, my information came from todays M,E,N, which I picked up at the newsagents at 7-0am this morning (Evening News, a bit of a farce isn't it).
Yours seems to be off the M,E,N web site about lunchtime, so hopefully you are right.

I bet he was feeling extremely passionate for Wigan when he was signing that nice new NRL contract with lots on zeros on it.
Anyhow how does this change things? www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/rugby-league/32018473
partial tear of the posterior cruciate ligament in his left knee is a pretty serious injury even though he's only out for 6 weeks.

| The injury doesn't change a single thing! Show me a 26 year old rugby league player who has never had an injury and I'll show my behind in Burtons window!
We should move heaven and earth to bring him back to Wigan. He's a once in a generation player and I'd be gutted if he cut short his NZ contract and ended up somewhere else!

At Christmas time a m8 of mine bumped into a tipsy sean wayne and rads in revolution in town and asked wayney if and when are we getting sam back , wayney winked and said end of next season promise .If you ask me this was the over all plan in the first place as dont forget we have a close relationship with the nz warriors with dean o in charge.

| Get him back ASAP.
Signing a world class player of any position in their mid-20's is now a rarity. He's fantastic, a leader and arguably was and will be the best attacking weapon in the whole of SL, and he's one of ours.
Anyone even suggesting we shouldn't go for Sam needs their head checking.

| the injury might even work in our favour. if his spot in NZ is busy, then what odds a repeat of a half-time announcement (Leeds game?)? back for the play-offs? (assuming we actually get there). i don't subscribe to any conspiratorial master-plan though, any announcement at the end of this season, would probably announce that he's available at the end of the 2016 season anyway.
We need an announcement (at least one that denies Wane & Rads were knocking back the vodka martinis in revolution)

He is so full of its unreal...
We can now add Sam Tomkins to his long list of 'things' he wants that he knows he cant have, but when it does become available he then decides he doesn't want.
and whats that " MY moves for a marquee player rule" .....??? Jamie Peacock talked about that long before Koukash ever mentioned it......
he's so good for the game I cant wait for him to buy the Titans and mickey off, but we all know when the Titans become available "it wont be right deal" for koukash (i.e Free...!!)
But it will be good to see Tomkins Back its nice to have a pantomime Villain who can actually play....
