If Wigan were offering the most money then I would agree.
Money will talk in this transfer. It's Warrington he will go to.

| Got some pretty strong links with the Salford clubs and the fact of the matter is there are 2 offers on the table for him at the moment. The coaches at the club and the players are non the wiser as to who he will be playing for next year, so i have to find it interesting the Salford fans all seem to know he is heading to Wire 100%.

Fair price? we got Gleeson for that, an England centre, where as Myler although a little untested has a decade in front of him.

| The problem with signing Myler is how much, at his age, he will de-stabilise our salary structure.. which was one of the reasons why Chris Ashton left, I believe by signing myler on the massive wages he will demand.. I would think S Tomkins, Mossop, Ainscough and even players a few years older like J tomkins and Harrison Hansen and Paul Presscott may be knocking on Mr Lenegans door for a raise...
I am not saying it is wrong to sign such a player, but sometimes the bigger picture needs to be looked @.

I agree. I'd be very surprised if we were willing to splash out big bucks on Myler - and it appears Wire probably are.

| It is interesting regards Monaghan, if he is to go, why is this? Is he home sick or just not going to be offered a new deal?
Personally IF Myler goes to Wire and Monaghan is available may be worth a punt, he has struggled this year but he has proven throughout his career his class prior to that. A change of scene away from Wire could be just what he needs. Just a thought to add to the drama of it all.

Monaghan is in the second year of a four year deal. Why would he be receiving an extension?

I would love to think Offiah would tip it in our favour, but I dont think IL has the courage to complete the transfer nor am I naive enough to think cash won't be king here.

No matter how much of a soft spot Offiah has for Wigan he will be trying to get the best deal for his client, earn the most money in this deal for himself and also maximise profits on Myler over the long term.
We can’t ignore that Tony Smith will be a big figure in Myler’s professional life either. This is the current England coach we are talking about who picked Myler last season when he was in in NL1. He’s shown faith in him in the past and Myler has done well under him as well.
We would have a massive task to talk Myler to come here over Warrington.

Perhaps he should find some of Mo's courage, hey - and spend cash that he doesn't have, or that the rules won't allow him to spend?
Is that the sort of courage you want him to show?
Why not - I mean last time it only almost got us relegated.
Sorry to sound belligerent, but some of these anti-IL posts are ridiculous. There are several valid reasons why Wigan might not want to sign Myler. It doesn't necessarily have anything to do with courage, though that doesn't seem to want people constantly spinning it that way.

I know it sounds bad but the answer from my pov would be YES every time. As selfish as it may sound Wigan for me comes before the rules and even the game.
I used to love Wigan and the whole game of RL but after I’ve seen the anti Wigan bile and pure hatred others fans have for us I’ve gone a hell of a lot more inward looking.
No one else cares about Wigan so why should we care or have respect for the rest of the dross in SL and the administrators who despise us even more than most opposition fans? Or should we care about clubs like Salford, Wakey or Hudds who don't have a ambitious bone in their bodies?
It’s one of the major reasons I find the NRL so appealing because it doesn’t have its anti Wigan agenda apparent everywhere from fans, to commentators to even the refs like Cummings and Ganson.
For all his bad traits Maurice always had his priorities set out right imo and that was doing what he thought was the best for Wigan RL and no one else.
All I want IL to do is start acting like the chairman of Wigan I want to see. One who delivers the big players and top trophies we so desperately want and sadly we aren’t going to do it by hanging onto coaches like Noble or letting talented youngsters go to our rivals.

Noble is more than likely to go at the end of the season, imo he would have gone earlier except for the playoff run, which in fairness would have been harsh on him to be sacked after that, however rubbish the rest of the season was.
And which talented youngsters are we letting go to our rivals? IL has made a specific point that this is not what he wants to do, and has hence signed most of the up and coming youngsters onto new 3 year deals mid-season.
We don't have the cap space to go out and buy 2 or 3 superstars this offseason, I estimate 1 top world class player and then a very good player, which i would imagine to be a SH and then someone like cayless in as prop.
The season after when Fielden in particular is off contract will relieve the last remnants of the v poor cap management from ML et al, and should hence allow much more movement within the squad.
As for this slating IL for not coming out and ssaying Noble won't be staying, do you not think there is the possibility that him and Noble have come to an agreement after Nobles little outburst that he isn't staying, but that Lenegan will not come out and undermine his head coach by saying he will not be staying. Yes the papers are now talking about us approachin other coaches, but this was always going to happen with our coach being out of contract and quite frankly being cr ap!

With Coley, Smith, Phelps and Bailey off contract i'm sure we've got enough to buy a superstar and also a very good player as well.

Fielden is looking like a bad option now and is a dead weight but i still say NO ONE would have turned him or his salary down when we signed him.

Read my previous on the Noble/Kearney situation and you'll see what i think. No way that Noble and IL haven't had a discussion about BN future before IL went to Aus.

Mo would have the bottle to attempt to make the transfer happen, Il doesnt.
What are the valid reasons?
We have a #7 - nope
We cant afford him - nope
We are a good team - nope
The chairman has delivered so far - nope
