| I saw a list of out of contract NRL players somewhere this week and while the standard of players available was anything but inspiring I noticed Paul Aiton hasn't been offered a contract at Cronulla. As far as hookers go we could do a lot worse.

| No doubting Carneys callibre as a player but lest we forget he couldnt get a visa for Hudds, what makes us think we can get him through Border Patrol? Maybe we still have that Michael Dobson immigration lawyer on retainer? ![Smile icon_smile.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_smile.gif)

I do hope it's true!

| Lauaki has signed for Wigan on a 2 year deal according to Phil Wilkinson in the Observer.
He gets it right normally aswell so it's looking highly likely.

The guy who used to work for the WEP (Aspinall was it?) used to just put rumours in the paper from things he'd read on here but Wilkinson seems pretty spot on most of the time.
The fact that he states it's a 2 year deal makes me wonder.

| in terms of ben flower the guy left a lot to be desired last night - in his second stint he fell off his firt 3 one on one tackles...
got the physique and if the deal is right for wigan then im not against it but if we are signing him to be in the 17 then may need a rethink after last night

He looked raw last night didn't he. He also threw a couple of loose passes but then maybe the guy was nervous if he was playing against his new team.
If anyone wrote down their first choice sides for next year he'd be a couple of players outside the 17 at least anyway. He will be signed as back up without doubt.

Good.
Presumably that'll be 2 years with the option of a 3rd?

| Clutching at straws possibly but I watched the re-run of Hull and Wire last night and thought Lauaki showed a few glimpses of potential with some very strong runs.
A complete hot-head though, seems to have a comparable amount of brain cells to Gareth Hock.

Thats why it seems a strange signing.
We already have a better sh*t for brains second row/prop that can produce magic offloads, big hits, barn storming runs and so on whilst also coming up with mistakes and penalties.
Ah well I trust Lenagan fully and even though he's leaving Maguire will have been consulted as well as Wane.

NRL players in Sydney are watched like Premiership footballers here when on the town and get the associated wannabe WAGs and people looking to make a quick buck. Apart from the CCTV in King St he won't be watched here.

Tim Smith was not a flop here because he was on the lash all the time, he was a flop because he can not tackle for toffee. His passing game was of a very, very high standard, but very inconsistent.
It has nothing to with him propping up the bar in Maloneys with a Harvey Wall banger in each hand, or drinking in the Embargo (forget the new name) because its the only place open late on a Monday night ( ![SHIFTY eusa_shifty.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//eusa_shifty.gif) ).
I do not recall one single story to make me believe that he was on the sauce whilst over here.
Carney would be a hell of signing.
I would still sooner have Dureau personally though.

| Flower and Dudson are being brought in as squad players IMO. Which is exactly what you need in a tough 27 game season. As proved time and time again it's those clubs with the biggest squads that ultimately have the most success.
Flower may not have impressed last night, but it's worth looking at his and Gil's stats on the SL website. For relativley young players, who aren't playing in a great team, usually losing heavily most weeks, their stats are very good.

Wouldn't be the worst idea ever, Huddersfield have at least 2.
On another note I will be gutted if we Luauki, he is bobbins and a lazy, lazy player.
After his fist drive against Wire I thought 'ey up' could be alright, but didn't nada after that exept hide in the centres.

FWIW I asked Harris when will he be starting his new job. He laughed and said in about a month. I said I hope it goes well and we left it at that!
