| As a Salford fan I will just quote my post on our site:
"We are now playing Wigan away next Thursday not Friday. I am most disappointed as I am unable to attend as I organised something for the Thursday evening rather than the more convenient Friday. The statement suggested it was an agreement between both clubs & the RFL. A rearranged match with only 8 days to go? Could I thank them again for ignoring supporters.
Perhaps the game may get more supporters if they were given more consideration."

| Since leneghan arrived the club has been turned from a family based club into a business venture and is more than happy to upset it's fans to maintain its corporate image. Everything about the club is business orientated and leaves very little left for the fans to enjoy.

What the statement doesn't mention is that the key factor in all of this is Wigan athletic.

| This is very poor, and I do feel for people who've already laid out considerable sums of money to see this game. And the worst of it is, there's every sign that the situation will get worse in the future, rather than better.
I'm looking down the fixture list and wondering what games I can feasibly get to. Thursdays are out, so that kills off Hudds at home and Cas away (went to both last season). Dunno, Leeds and Saints at home and maybe Saints away. Or Hull... I expect I'll end up seeing less games than last year.
Has IL said anything in the past about getting our own ground? Is there any long-term plan in place?
But just on those T&Cs posted upthread: that sounds pretty standard to me; Id be surprised if every rugby (and football) club didn't have similar.

| IL has ruled out getting our own ground in the past at fans forums due to it not being cost effective. The state Bolton are in he could get the Reebok for a quid!

Same here. When I saw the thread last night I actually thought that it was a Latics fan taking the michael.
What season ticket holders should do is boycott the game. Let the team play in front of an empty stadium.
I have some sympathy with IL with regards to difficulties in raising revenues and therefore, understand his desire to play a game a season in London etc in an attempt to recruit new sponsors, fans and users of Wigan tv. However, the delay in announcing this change is either inept or fraudulent and I will let the club decide which of these it considers is the most appropriate.
Thursday night is an absolute awful night for a match and I for one will not make the extra effort needed on my part to attend the game.

Rubbish. The previous incumbents Uncles Mo and Dave drove the club almost to relegation despite numerous cap breaches and to a situation where its assets were negligible. IL is making the best of a bad job with the inherited stadium situation.

| Lots of banter online regards the movement of our fixture moving 24hrs. Yet rewind exactly one year ago and it was Latics that moved their fixture against Charlton from the.Saturday to a Friday night to accomodate the visit of Brisbane in the WCC.
Granted their fans had a couple of months notice, not ten days.

Sensible is not a word i would use Brian with anything connected to this fiasco . The sensible thing would to have sorted it out pre season and let the fans know what is/was happening . We are going to go through all this palava again in a few weeks time when HKR are due in town .
Rant over
How's things ? tell Liam that Ross is wearing his shorts on Saturday and see if he is brave enough to do the same . Chickened out at the Catalan's game .

Your the one talking rubbish, what's Mo & Whelan got to do with my comment? I said leneghan has turned the club from being a family club into a corporate run business. Yes he did inherit the situation but sometimes he needs to dig his heels in and grow a pair when it comes to decision making.

This was arranged two months in advance, the decision to change the salford game is down to latics position in the table and nothing else. If they were mid-table then we wouldn't even have this thread. This farce will continue to go on and on.

| The change of day does not really affect me, I would prefer a Friday game. Rather than fans boycott and lose out on already paid tickets , fans should refuse to buy next seasons tickets until the club agree to some concessions for the fans eg a minimum time frame of 2 months on fixture changes. We should have a fans meeting prior to the new season tickets being available and have the fans concerns listened to.
We are not just fans we are paying customers and I would be all for getting some concessions from the club.

I haven't checked but as the game is on a Thursday, is it being shown on Sky? If so, a Liverpool style 'Wigan Walk' would go down a treat

Not on TV, there was already a Thursday game arranged for Sky (Hull FC v Cas). The fans could definitely do something to have their say. Not buying any food, drink, programmes, golden gamble etc next Thursday would be a starting point.

it would indeed but it wouldnt get any media recognition apart from maybe a small piece in the WEP. Something needs to be done in front of a national TV audience

| From a Salford fans perspective I have a thirty-eight mile round trip to Salford.
Tried to buy tickets yesterday at the Cowboys training session and told no information yet
Just tried again at the Brisbane training session and told we haven't got tickets yet.
Add to this please consider also it could be Wednesday before I get off the Barton car park if you believe the tales we have to put up with.

| We aren't the only RL club to share a ground. Hull and Hudds share with soccer teams and Salford with Sale RU.
Do they get messed about like this? I don't think so. Do they have to play away from home for weeks on end mid-season? Nope.
The fact we do is unacceptable. You could understand the midseason thing once while the situation was sorted out for good but it's clear it's now going to be every bloody season. Moving other fixtures like this Salford game is just rank bad planning. The soccer fixtures are known as are the RL fixtures before the first RL game kicks off including the dates of potential home ties in cup games.
To be having to change a fixture and give such short notice is very, very poor and reflects badly on IL and the club.

| We do unfortunately, in the past we've even had to play games at Leigh because Sale were given priority. Even just last week, our home game vs Leeds was moved from a Friday night to a Saturday due to Sale progressing to the next round of the cup with that game being shown on Sky.

The argument is that IL has turned the club into a business rather than a family club, this has nothing to do with previous owners/ chairmen.

In modern sport there is an absolute requirement for a good business head to manage the day-to-day finances and turn a profit if at all possible. This farce with the wendyballers taking precedence is nothing to do with IL. The ground is owned by a company (that itself has to make a profit) that is still in part owned by the Whelan clan and their priority is soccer. Where I [iwould[/i lay blame for this is Rads. Is he not still "Rugby General Manager"? Exactly what is that supposed to be if not to keep an eye on schedules and potential pratfalls like this? Also, the RFL should know better in the first place and if any fault is to be sent in Lenagan's direction it's only insofar that he's patently not got the balls to stand up and fight our corner when the requirement is there.

Of course it does; it shows that the previous owners demonstrated that a "family club" is not viable when it keeps on losing money. That, in essence, is why we don't have Central Park anymore.
