You might have a point if it were randomly done and the result actually showed you were in a minority, but as that wouldn't be possible you don't know if you or I are actually in the minority on this one.
Funny how you don't seem to keep mentioning you were "in a minority" about signing Ryan McGoldrick for fullback or giving Noble a contract extension for last season, in the way you do with other things. Any reason why?

And there's a lot who say leave him at fullback or haven't said either way - hence why this "minority" bollox is just that. Some people are desperate to find an excuse for our ropey form so the Sam for 6 brigade are vocal. I didn't hear many at the end of last season or the start of this.

How exactly does Roberts find form unless he is playing in his best position?
I personally agree with you but I think this is the perfect week to give Roberts gametime at FB. Hull KR have their best kicker out so he will be under less pressure. He had a nightmare against Hudds due to the high bombs.... I don't think he will have the same problem, he will be fine against KR.

Of course our problems are in the pack, but having Leuluai at hooker makes a world of difference. His ability to run with ball in hand causes teams all sorts of problems for the other team.
The issue with McIlorum is that it's one out rugby at times - and if their forwards are bigger, fresher, and more aggressive than your forwards that's always going to fail. When Leuluai is shifted there it changes things up - his distribution and scooting ability are superior to McIlorum and he really leads the team around the park. It makes a massive difference.

I'd give Roberts a 4/5 weeks on the wing no matter how he plays to get him back up to speed. IF he can get anywhere near last seasons form, I think we'll be a better team with him at 1 and Sam at 6. If he can't get up to speed in those few weeks then Sam is the only realistic option at 1.
His nightmare at Hudds was only from bombs in the first half. He returned the ball well and apart from a dodgy pass into touch, he linked up well.
The same grace has got to be given to Finch. Too many people calling for his head after no real pre-season and 1 starting game and 2 subs.
I also thought we seemed much better with Leuluai at hooker and I'd prefer him to play there but I don't think Finch/Deacon is the right combination at halves. Tricky one really.

Not for me. He hasn't got the passing or running game of a modern fullback in the mould of Tomkins, Roberts, Phelps, Greenshields, Slater, Minachelo (sp), Hodgson etc. He's a winger for mine.

That's because we had a sense of cohesion in the halves - Deacon's absence is being massively understated by many IMO.
We saw exactly what Sam has to offer at Full Back in the first 3 minutes on Friday, when he puts himself into the line like that he can be unplayable at times.
Long term, Sam should play at 1 for me, but until we have Finch firing on all cylinders and able to offer a sense of direction and play making to the team, Sam is better served at 6 where he can influence the team more.

So what is the problem? It is just my opinion he should play there because we look far better with Sam at 6. It is about the whole team.

I was told he was injured after the Leeds game but I really don't know why he hasn't been allowed to string a few games together.

| I really don't understand some people's desperation to move Sam to 6.
Why would we do that when we allowed Deacon to play on for another year, and bought another half back in Finch?
I think most people agree we've missed Deacs, so I'd bring him back to partner Finch. Deacs might just help take the pressure off Finch, that he's obviously feeling in trying to adapt. He's pushing it too much, and needs to relax a bit more. Deacs also has the best long kicking game of any of our kickers, and would make a difference their too.
Plus letting Tommy and Micky share the hooking role, would add a bit of variety. It would also give us options off the bench.

I'd do it for defensive purposes more than anything - he's safe as houses under the bomb. He also runs it back like a forward and he could still chime into the line in attack - just obviously he wouldn't do it with the skill of Tomkins.

Behind a beaten pack you will always lose. Hell, you don't have to have been watching the game for too many years to work that one out.
Both Wire and Catalans have big packs, and we got beat !
We need muscle in that front row, someone like Andy Platt or especially Kelvin Skerrett in the past. Props often work in pairs much better. Playing with a 'light pack', as we are doing at the moment, will crucify us in the long term.'"
The anomaly is that we really took it to Hudds' pack a month ago, why can't we do it consistently against the better packs? I bet Wane's doing his nut in.

| Quote ="Last Son of Wigan"Yes actually I would. Only a few years back people were saying the same about Goulding, he was a centre who wasn't up to it, he then went on loan to Salford, they played him as a winger, and the rest is history.
Goulding was scoring tries last season due to having a top centre as his partner, without that he's average at best.
He's weak under the high ball and not that quick.
Compare him to Marsh, Marsh is bigger faster stronger better under the high ball.
I don't like the mentality of 'well he's not done much wrong so lets stick with him' when in reality we could be stronger down his side.'"
You say that Marsh is bigger that Goulding, not according to the club site.
Goulding 179cm = app 5'10+ 84kilo = app 14st -5lb
Marsh 172cm = app 5-8 78kilo = app 13st-11

| I seem to recall Sam having a stormer at full back in the same fixture last year so I wouldn't be tempted to move him just yet. It's our moves that have become predictable not Sam being on the end of them. We need to vary it up a bit because teams have now done their homework.

Fair enough, one of my points was isolated and inaccurate. Overall I still feel other players deserve a run out there as Goulding doesn't cut it.
