This is my thoughts too. The whole situation is a joke and the board should start to seriously consider the idea of building our own stadium. If Saints and Warrington can do it then we certainly can.

The thing is Saints had Knowsley road and Wire had wilderspool to help them with new grounds. We just have a piece of paper that by the sounds of it, its not worth wiping your on

| What an absolute farce this is turning out to be,I have just been out for my usual couple of pints and a Leigh supporter (close to the Leigh Admin)came over to me and said that the people at the Leigh Sports Village are going spare.
When the draw was first made the staff at Leigh knowing they had to play Leeds at home thought all they had to do was wait untill later in the day, knowing that all the TV companies had to do was agree between themselves who had what and when.
Now at the end of day two since the draw, Leigh are still being told that they hav'nt to make arrangements to print tickets intill this issue is resolved.
So who are the people telling Leigh they can't do a thing until it is resolved, the whole thing stinks. Leigh drew Leeds, they should be allowed to do what they want and not have to play second fiddle to anyone.
But the big boys and TV money will win in the end.

| This is really bad planning by the RFL they are responsible for setting the quarter final dates. People in Red Hall don,t have a clue they should have known that Wigan would be a strong bet to get to a quarter final and cross checked the fixture dates with Wigan Athletic which were known August last year.
Then the RFL make the quarter final draw 10 days before the first quarter final game, so basically the RFL have forced Wigan into breach of operational rules. This will happen every year until..............the penny drops.

Why the hell should the RFL check with Wigan Athletic what their fixtures are? How are the RFL meant to compile a fixture list to suit every club in SL and every club that shares a ground? This is Wigan's fault pure and simple for getting into this situation in the first place where they are at the beck and call of Dave Whelan. Trying to blame the RFL and BBC is just a smokescreen for where the blame really lies.

Rubbish, if he was backing us to play at the JJB then he would be letting us play on the Saturday, as he could easily do as there is nothing in the Premier League rules that say we cannot. However he is not so this is all just typical, meaningless PR from him.

Has he actually said that we cant play there on Saturday though. Obviously he has previously been difficult, but i have not heard anything to say this fixture will be moved?
Not that i am sticking up for him as i think he is a little g1t.

Got what, Saints fan and wind up or not plenty of Wigan fans have said similar things to what he posted if you read the thread. It is a general reply to that train of thought as much as anything.

There are lots of issues.
Huddersfield can't play on Saturday. What would have happened had Hull football stil been in the Premiership or been in the play offs and Hull FC still in the Challenge Cup.
The simple solution would be for the RFL to tell the broadcasters that the games would be
Friday Wigan v Saints
Saturday Catalan v Wire
Sunday Leigh v Leeds and Huddersfield v London
Then told the broadcasters to pick their games from those.

Nothing. There was at least one occasion when FC and City played the same weekend when City were in the Premiership. The KC is council owned and both clubs have equal status.
The problem lies solely with the fact that in Whelan's eyes, the two clubs playing at the DW don't have equal status. There is absolutely nothing to stop the Warriors playing on the Saturday and the Latics on the Sunday except Whelan.
No way should anyone move anything just to facilitate Whelan's ego.

If we could play on Saturday and if there were not problems then it would have been announced yesterday or certainly today. The mere fact that it has still not been announced, when the first match is only 9 days away and when other clubs also still need to organise their matches, indicates that he is being awkward. Also reading the article with mentions of the mythical 24 hour rule and Whelan saying he is happy for us to play on the Friday but absolutely no mention of the Saturday says it all.

| We should be playing at home on Saturday, end of.
If this does not happen we will be a laughing stock, it can be done there is no rule in place to prevent it, the stadium can be turned round, any tips how to do it give the KC Stadium management a call.

| Apparently the decision is now with the RFL so Saints and Wigan will play where they are told, when they are told. I can't see us playing at any time other than the one stipulated by the BBC as not only is the BBC a broadcasting partner, paying money into the coffers, but also playing on the BBC will get us a much, much bigger potential audience than playing on Sky and that kind of exposure is vital to RL IMO.
It's likely we will end up playing at the HJ. Why we couldn't have done that anyway - assuming Warrington's cooperation of course - I don't know. Everyone could have got on with their preparations for their respective matches then.

But the BBC have their slots sorted way before the draw AND they have the pick of the fixtures. They pay to choose who they want to show, therefore the clubs have to play when the person paying them wants them to play. No other club of the eight would have had a problem with this, it is just unfortunate that you do. They shouldn't have to reschedule/rearrange their programmes just to satisfy one man's ego.

We once both played on the same day, lunchtime and evening. Worked out fine, no issues at all.

So what would happen if Wigan Athletic, Hull City and Huddersfield Town had Premiership / play off games on Sunday and all those teams were in the quarter Finals?

But if Hull were in the Premiership, conditions of admittance mean Hull City would have to have primacy so it wouldn't be equal status if there was any kind of clash. However given the current situation, rugby playing Saturday and the football playing Sunday isn't a clash that needs to test that primacy status.
Quote ="SaintsFan"The problem lies solely with the fact that in Whelan's eyes, the two clubs playing at the DW don't have equal status. There is absolutely nothing to stop the Warriors playing on the Saturday and the Latics on the Sunday except Whelan.

The problem with egomaniacs like Whelan is their mood is determined purely by which side of the bed they got out of that morning. Last season he was quite happy for Wigan RL to play Saturday and Latics play Sunday if we needed to in the play-offs. Now it seems to be a problem.
And he wonders why more people in the town don't follow Latics.
