My favourite Wigan moment has to be Wembley 1988. It the first time I went to Wembley and I was only 5 years old. My dad took me along with my two sisters and my mum. I remember the day after when the players came back to Wigan more than the game.

In recent times it has to be beating Saints at Wembley in 2002. I remember walking on to the ground that day watching us warm up. I turned round to my dad and told him we would win that game. It all just felt right.

Worst moment would be walking off Central Park for the last time. A feeling I will never forget. A part of me died that day.

Worst match has to be Wembley 98 against Sheffield. For me that was worse than the 75-0 as we had all of our best players available.

Favourite player is a hard one. I loved Henderson Gill as a kid but would have to say Hanley is the best I have ever watched.

Was on holiday for the 70-0, 75-0 but Hudds 2008 was a truly low point.
Also, despite it being a great side, Boxing Day in the late 80's at CP when Saints ran in 20-odd unanswered points in the 2nd half.

Most of the matches mentioned above, but Manly was special. I just remember feeling like you were really part of something at that time. I just hope the new set-up can start to generate some of that feeling again.

Greatest moment - Carneys double against Leeds. Nearly the whole team chasing him down twice and all missing him by inches.

Worst - Sitting with a bunch of Sheffield fans in Wembley stadium, oh my god that was awful

Best player, close one - Farrell, Edwards, Bell, Gregory................ but for me for the undying love for the club over all others as well as being one hell of a player has to be Radders.

Best - all time - winning at Saints in the cup in 82, the first time we had won a big televised game in ages, confirming that we were a club on the rise.

Recent - Headingley 2003 play off 23-22.

Worst ever - struggling like hell to beat Pilkingtom Recs (76?) through 2 late undeserved tries.

Recent - Grand Final 2000 16-29 v Saints, suggesting that we wouuldn't be dominant again.

got to be World Club Challenge against Manly, circa 37,000 people packed into Central Park, night time match with an unbelievable atmosphere. When Wigan walked out of the tunnel the whole place erupted, absolutely fantastic, no wembley or grand final appearance has ever come close to the atmosphere created that night

First game against Catalans.

Best Game....difficult this as there has been so many, but I have to go for the first time I saw us win the Challenge Cup, Wembley 1965, v Hunslet, plus we were sat in the corner where Trevor Lake dove over for his famous try.

Worst Game....Easter Monday, 17th April 2006, days before Noble joined us, we lost at home to Harlequins 18-30, especially the first 40 mins, probably the worst performance from a Wigan team I have ever seen, and that includes the season we were relegated.

Best Player....Boston, its nearly impossible to explain to people how good Billy was if you never saw him play, but we have been blessed over the years with outstanding talent, Ashurst, Kenny, Hanley, how am I supposed to split those !!!

Best Atmosphere....I'll go for Wembley 1985, even though we had been to Wembley the previous year we probably didn't expect a win against an outstanding Widnes team, 85' was different, we had Kenny and Ferguson, I've been to Wembley dozens of times but never known it so packed tight, the game was brilliant, but those closing 10 minutes were stomach churning, I , like many more, thought we were going to throw it away, but the final whistle was a mighty relief, 20 years of wait over, the Cup had come home !!!

All back end of 2006 games, the way we got behind the team in them troubled times was amazing.

Best Game Brisbane 94 was probably our finest hour, but for a game I've attended - Murrayfield 2002.

Worst Game Castleford Away in 2006. Getting snotted by the worst team in the league, picking up a load of injuries and sinking to rock bottom. Just an awful feeling of helplessness watching the team tumbling towards relegation and not seeing any positives on the horizon. Truly horrible feeling.

Best Player Ellery, but Edwards a close 2nd.

Best Atmosphere Good Friday 1993, the 8-8 draw against Stains with 30,000 packed into CP. Surprised the roof didn't come off that day. Hull in the playoffs in 2007 too, just for sheer non-stop noise and a huge following.

BEST GAME- For Excitement and emotion it as to be Bradford 07 play off. best team performance as got to be Brisbane

WORST GAME-Never felt as low as i did when we lost 75-0

BEST PLAYER- My hero was Dean Bell.but the greatest player i've ever seen was Hanley but for passion Edwards and Farrell were the men.

Certainly not a Wigan fan and never will be, but I do have a great Wigan moment. I was one of the 37000 that packed into Central Park for the 1987 World Club Challenge against Manly. The ground was full of fans from all over the place just willing Wigan to win. It was an amazing atmosthere that anyone who was there will never forget and probably never ever experience again. Central Park was always one of my favourite grounds.

Thats what the WCC should be like now! Everyone supporting the team representing the nation! Massive crowds, huge atmosphere. We should aim big with it, more like a champions league final.

BEST GAME- Manly '87, Brisbane '94,

WORST GAME- Never felt lower than I did after losing at home to Castleford in 2006. Six points adrift at the bottom, I was convinced we were going down.

"We came second, we paid for a poor first half. Our backs are against the wall and we need to roll our sleeves up for the whole 80 minutes", commented Brian Noble in his usual cliched fashion.


BEST TRY- My favourite try was Henderson Gill's at Wembley, if for no other than the firkin big grin all over his face after it.

BEST ATMOS- Manly '87 like nothing I've experience in RL before or since.

BEST PLAYER- Ellery Hanley far and away the best I've seen in a Wigan shirt, though Dean Bell & Frano Botica were my favourites.

I'd blocked that one out. It was bl00dy freezing & you're right, we were utterly clueless. I remember talking to my Grandad after the match & saying it was the first time I'd ever been bored at a match. Happened a few times since, mind. That said, the first 15 mins of Michael Dobson's first home game for us was a great moment, simply because he put 4 or 5 decent kicks in & you sensed belief starting to come back into the crowd.

I just remember coming home from that match wondering why I'd wasted my time sitting in the cold watching absolute dross. Tbh it was that bad I'd forgot about Dobson.

Wasnt dobsons home debut against Saints? I could have sworn that was quite a warm evening, and it wasn't a bad performance considering what we had had to put up with earlier in the season.

I once met Pat Sharp at game against Bradford, i had my picture taken and arm signed by him and that is probably the best at the min.

Worst feeling: Oldham away CC 1987 Lost 10-8 and lost the car keys on the way back to the car!

Best Player: Ellery Hanley - He had everything a rugby player needs plus more.

Best Atmosphere: Manly 1987 without any shadow of doubt

Best Game: Other than Manly, beating the Aussie national side at Central Park in 1968. I was only 10 and the atmosphere was fantastic. I wish I had known at the time how historic a win that was.

Best try: Martin Offiah against Leeds at Wembley

Most dejected: Losing to Castleford in the 1970 CC final. That was my first CC final and I then had to wait 15 years to eradicate that awful feeling. But boy, how good it felt beating Hull in 1985, although I had mixed emotions on the day as my dad had died just before Wembley and so I wasn't able to share the moment with him. He always said that his best moment was beating the great Bradford side of the 1940's at Wembley 1948 which stopped them winning the CC three years in a row.

Worst feeling: Oldaham away CC 1987

Best Atmosphere: Wigan V Australia 1986 (a bigger crowd than the Manly match IMO- before electronic turnstiles



Best game attended: Brisbane away 1994. WCC

Best time: 3 x Charity shield matches in Isle of Man, 1986, 1988, 1989.

Best Atmosphere: Manley , Hull and Bradford were great because of the whole " tache " thing, remember still singing under the big screen 20mins after the whistle at Bradford.
Also great trip on the bus back to Perps after the playoff win and in the Sportsbar that night.
Best Players : Too many, but Andy F and Shaun deserve mention for their will to win.

Wigan vs Leeds, Headingley 2003, watched it in the pub as a 16 year old drinking hand-pulled Greenalls Bitter (when you could still get it) with mt Dad (RIP), my heart-rate was up so much that I had to stand outside for 5 minutes to get my breath back when the final hooter sounded.

Wembley 1998, the day you knew it was all over, such a poor performance which nowdays you're used to.

Offiah, the man knew his way to the tryline like no other.

The best crowd atmosphere you have heard?

Probably Good Friday 2005 at the JJB, however the sound of a packed Knowsley Road when you're still about 300 yards away on Alder Hey Road on Derby day is the one that puts shivers down you're spine, both sets of fans giving it loads to each other.
