He could be edging bets but I feel it's more likely he just wants out and is making the situation ugly and untenable since Wigan RL returned serve.
Until the holiday response support favoured SE...now that is unprofessional from him....if he'd have said directly to Wigan I'm on holiday and Wigan RL released that, I'd have said negotiations are back on track.

IF as it now looks likely Edwards didn't sign a contract (otherwise why would he say it twice, as it can easily be refuted by the club):

1. Edwards can go and kindly F right off and never come near the club ever again - unforgivable to even think about reneging on a public commitment - signed or not.

2. The club have lied through their teeth to the fans. They should be grovelling to us when the next "statement" comes out, even that shouldn't be enough.

3. The club have been incompetent beyond belief in not getting a signature (IF what Edwards says is true) and that is the basis of the balls up now currently playing out in public.

Everybody involved comes out very badly in all this, Edwards, Lenegan and Radlinski. Edwards won't be near the club, thankfully, and it's the final straw for me with Radlinski, I certainly don't trust him with any future recruitment and the sooner he goes the better.

Hopefully Lenegan won't have the brass neck to ever again talk about how badly the RFL are run, at the moment Wigan RL make the RFL look like Apple Inc.

How does this mess tie in with Wane leaving? Did he jump ship and then Edwards was approached or did he jump because Edwards was approached? Is this a symptom of a much bigger malaise at your club, evidenced by the behaviour of J Tomkins, the signing of ZH, and the release of Bateman and the phantom re signing clause.
This isn't trolling, I am genuinely baffled at the speed with which your club seems to be spiralling out of control.

I listened to the BBC Rl podcast last night and this was the main talking point. Kev Brown was a guest and he said, in his opinion, that Kris Rads is an incredibly honest, trustworthy fella, as I think we all think/thought? KB's thinking was that if KR shook on it then he would expect that deal to happen because it's something he would abide by. I'm inclined to agree with this.
My thinking now is Rads has perhaps been incredibly naive about this and has shown a lack of experience in a business environment.

Sadly this is exactly my thought regarding Rads and I’ve saud this on several occasions prior to this.

He simply doesn’t have the experience to be the head of such a high profile brand especially when it’s stock is falling so quickly.

Let’s be honest. Regardless of the fault nobody on either side is getting out of this with any credit. We will never ever know the full story the only thing that is clear is that mistakes have been made and then compounded by both sides.

No matter what the eventual outcome it is another exercise in how to damage a club and fan base when attempting to do the exact opposite and maybe trying to be a bit too clever and cute especially with the fan base.

These scenarios are unfortunately becoming a bit too common and in the public domain for a not too long ago force on the world stage as a rugby brand.

I know exactly what you mean mate but he’s been well and truly kneecapped on this. I was as angry as anybody and I believed our leadership to be in a state of shambles. I mentioned the perception of the fans and the potential impact on the club’s reputation and was corrected. The response was that the chairman cares more about the character of the club because character is what you actually are and perception is what people think you are. Mr Lenegan (and Rads) can hold their heads up high and look straight in the mirror to see integrity and professionalism. I’m genuinely proud to be a Wigan fan because of it. As I said yesterday, i only hope the full facts come out.

I take it that neither of them are responsible for drawing up or signing contracts then? If so, then yes, but to publicly claim TWICE that Bateman and Edwards had signed contracts only to have it discovered that no contracts were signed doesn't constitute integrity or professionalism with me. Amateurish, Naïve, possibly deceitful are descriptions that spring to my mind.

I'd be pretty surprised if IL's businesses operated on a nod and a wink. KR is an ex-rugby player in a suit.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with anything that has been done by the club. I can’t reiterate it enough and can only repeat that I hope against all hope they make everything public.

He's not far off the same position you're in. He's been trusted with some unique information, and if he spills it on here, it will be obvious to his contact where it has come from and will be seen as a betrayal.

I don't blame him for sitting on it at the present time in the hope that at some point soon the club themselves will speak out.

Personally, I don't know why the club don't just give their side of the story right now ... unless they still feel the situation with Shaun Edwards can be salvaged, in which case they won't want to get into open slanging matches in the press, which might make things irretrievable. I wouldn't want him now - the standards in British RU are unimpressive when you look at the NRL, plus he's treated us very badly - but maybe IL and co feel they were too far along the line with him to just back off without making an effort.

I don't know. Why don't we wait and see what happens next?

I'm guessing two things are happening at the moment:
a) Wigan [iarent[/i reaching out to Shaun Edwards at all, he's made his bed and their letting him lie in it (pun intended);
b) Wigan are working to find a long-term solution at head coach, so when they do make an announcement of substance it wont be 'Oh Shaun isnt coming anymore, heres some uncertainty and ... oh yeah, come watch the games!' its 'We tried to get Shaun onboard, but unfortunately he preferred to stay in RU all along. We've conducted an extensive search and have a (hopefully) signed contract in place for Shane Flanagan to take over ASAP'.

They cant announce he's not coming without some positive news, that would be suicide.

Nothing worse than someone 'posting' I know all about it' style posts then not having the plums to say what they know. What are you afraid of? I have a feeling the Wigan mafia will let this one slide.

I’m a man of my word LSOW and I won’t disclose what I know because as well as confirming the information would be treated in confidence, it may well have legal implications further down the track. However, I couldn’t sit back and listen to people slagging off the chairman and Rad when I know they’re not at fault in any of this. Think of me what you want, I’m really not bothered. Believe what I’m saying or don’t, I’m really not bothered. As I’ve said from the start, I really hope the club gives full disclosure on what’s happened, then you’ll see why I was asked to keep the details to myself.

There is no bragging to be done. The whole situation stinks but I didn’t want to sit back and watch our fans slagging off the wrong people. I suppose I’m usually one of the more positive people who comes on here but I too was concerned when Edwards went to press and I was vocal in my criticism of the club. However, I’m happy that I was wrong and as ever, tried to put a more positive perspective on the whole saga. In all honesty I expected the usual moaners to come at me with the ‘put up or shut up’ remarks and no matter how much information comes out in public, there certainly won’t be any ‘I told you so’ remarks from me.
